26. My muse asks to draw your muse. @unlock-eternity
The furious tapping of eraser against paper at away at Zero’s mind almost as much as his assignment. He swore Marina was doing this just to spite him. “That pirate has been missing for so long, we don’t even ave an up-to-date picture on file,” she said, her arms crossed. “You really think you saw her?”
He hadn’t just seen her. She’d tried to kill him. She’d even introduced herself with that very name. Of course it was her. There was no reason for Marina to believe it was an impostor. This was clearly punishment for all his late reports. “You’ll have to draw me a picture,” she’d said, shoving a pad of paper into his hands. “That way we can guarantee you saw her. Make sure you get all the details right, and no tracing. I’ll know.”
He thought she was joking at first. She was not. But Zero couldn’t draw a stick figure to save his life, let alone a woman. He’d need a base, and if it couldn’t be Marina, well...
“Miss Winny,” he wheezed, one hand plastered to his face. “I’ve called you into my office to... Well, you see... I have to draw a woman - not you, but I need a base - and you’re the only woman on this ship who doesn’t want me dead right now. At least as far as I know. So if you could just...stand there...”
