Gaston felt as though it was always night in the Outer Core. There was always a whiff of sin, some strange sense of secrecy in the stillness of the ship’s slums. Still he felt something for it, perhaps he didn’t feel at home but there was a sense of opportunity. It was so far from everything he knew and everything he aspired to be that it seemed to him that he was unstoppable. There were people everywhere who answered to him, but out here he felt like a god - acted like one, too, to any and all who came before him. There was a pleasant surprise wrapped up in all of this on this night in particular, and he smirked the moment he laid eyes on the woman. “Are you mine tonight?” he asked, glancing around them.
