RE your giant mosquito: the largest mosquito is only about an inch long. What you describe is probably a crane fly. They're big, but they can't bite or sting. In fact, they can't even eat at all most of the time. They exist only to mate and die, so they barely have a mouth :(

oh... I'm sorry, I didn't know! I'm just scared of bugs in general :(
