"the rap show bbq" in review
Vicious Manor Oct. 6th 2012
when i got to the venue no one was there. i expected a couple amateurs to be there for the open mic, but no....it's fine, i stayed cool. i had been nervous all week because i didn't listen to any of the other groups. i made it a priority to make sure that I wouldn't judge them on their music but their performances a performance is vital to any recording artist's career. you have got to take people out of just standing in a room next to someone else and take that person into your world. im a performance artist. when i write music i think of a crowd, i think of the people in the crowd, i think of so much before i even think of a concept. i want my WORDS TO MOVE THE CROWD. space alien donald was awesome, he introduced himself as the worlds "oldest gay canadian rapper" (it was indeed unique talent in attendance). im so glad i can say i got to shake his hand; the man was a living example of someone who lives his life and follows his dreams. i loved that. he inspires me for sure. something villainous was explosive! think beastie boys, meets odd future's greatest moments meets lonely island boys meets your little brother who likes hey arnold. the crowd was amazing, no one there was a music snob of any kind. everyone there came to support a fantastic community of artists. empyre gave us a lyrical assalt full of hunger that instantly reminded me of a young dmx or 50 cent; so hungry and ready to give us multiple platinum selling records. smitty rocked the crowd unlike anyone i had ever seen in arizona yet! every single act was diverse from the last. the whole team came out tonight to support this crazy thing that started off as just an idea. special thanks to G.H. for my www.Cienbu.com Tee (i looked crazy fresh). by the time i hit the stage i was done with waiting and wanted to just give these people what i came to do. i started my set off with a intro i worked 6 days on and was totally ignored. people were talking and my levels were off slightly so it was missed (i'll save it for another show). the energy level was immediate and i easily made my way through song after song feeding off the energy of that crowd. plus, i occasionally took minute breaks with a interlude and a story about my past life. i was told that i had one more song and i decided to end it with the song i dropped earlier today. right after, an encore roared through the crowd and that's when i decided to bring my man kali kal up to do "tell em." the crowd loved it, they was singing his hook that he wrote like they heard it before. it was beyond crazy! i was kinda amazed at how well we did having never rehearsed it. that ment the world for me to share the stage with someone as my special guest like i was fucking j. cole or something. to do a special encore song with a special guest and the song hadn't even dropped yet was something i could only wished for. im glad that happend for real. then it was immediately a call for ONE MORE encore. i rounded the night out with no tomorrow which took things to the brim and then overflowed. i ran out into the crowd and they picked me up over their heads. i ended my set crowd surfing as i yelled the closing lines of the song, "live like it's NO TOMORROW, LIVE LIKE ITS NO TOMORROW!!!".....and that we did.
