I am so interested in social mores and rules in other countries! I think I would have asked first if it was polite to shake hands. I guess she didn’t realize that people wear clothes that are suited to their environment for a reason.

and then looked directly at me and was like, "i saw yr facial reactions, did i say something you disagreed with?"

and i couldn't collect my words because everything she said was wrong from like saying keffiyehs in different colours meant that they were Omani, or something, to saying that everyone in Qatar wore "the full thing" that they "have to lift up to eat" and then she made the entire class laugh cos she almost shook a man's hand

ZOMG, NOOEES! and she was like, "he was like, 'no please' and 'i can only touch my wife'.." and everyone just thought that was the funniest shit ever

so she looks at me and goes, "did I say something wrong?"

and the professor said, "no you did fine," and she went and sat down

and now i know who to avoid in this class
