"Alright, kiddo, I have prepared my very best costume for your first proper trick-or-treat." Amalia crouched down in front of little Zai with a serious look. "Are you ready to recieve it?"
The half-demon child, 5-years-old and beyond ready to walk around neighborhoods with his mom and dad to collect a wondrous bounty of free candy, clenched his tiny fists and mustered up his most serious face. "Yes, Ant Amaya!"
She smiled and held out the box. "It is yours!"
"Yes!" He grabbed the box, clutching it against his chest before sitting on the floor to open it up. His hands dove in and he pulled out a handful of soft orange-and-black-striped material. He took the whole garment out, searching until he found the eared hood.
The adorable grin on his face, his little baby fangs peeking out, sent Amalia's heart soaring with pride.
"I love you!" He yelled in his sweet little voice. "Mommy, help me try it on!" Zai jumped up, tugging on his mother Robin's shirt urgently.
"Alright, alright," she giggled, picking him up, the costume lifting up until even the tail, made to Zai's measure, hung above the ground.
"I'm gonna be a tiger!" he cheered.
"Thanks again, Amalia. I really appreciate it."
Amalia waved her off, acting modest. "It was nothing. How could I ever deny a client with such good taste?"
