In this May 1964 photograph, Car 9627 “poses” outside the World’s Fair grounds in Flushing Queens. It’s one of the “Bluebird” subway cars that rolled on the IRT Flushing Line to take visitors to the fair. In the 1980’s, they were repainted red and re-nicknamed “Redbirds”. pic.twitter.com/TJnLnSYmYS
