Part 142/182 of Facets. || 5x15, Pool Hopping
Steven helps Garnet do the laundry that night, handing her his shirts while she strings them upon the thin line caught between the Temple Gem’s mossy thumb and index finger.
And when they’re done, making quick work of the load together, they find themselves side by side, watching the sun fall away from the darkening sky, its cape trailing behind it in amber, in liquid gold.
“We should hang out more often,” Steven says sleepily.
Garnet’s voice is tender, achingly soft. “I would like that.”
“Because I’ve missed this,” he explains.
It’s important for him to explain.
“I’ve missed you.”

@dokidokistorytime asked :
“My friend, for who could be my equal but you.”
unprompted. || always accepting
─「市香」─ the WARMTH coming from his hand despite his body being created as a frame brought a sense of belonging to her mind as she gazed at him. those eyes of his met with her own, a clear UNDERSTANDING and concern laced with the way he looked at her. the term equal somehow made her heart race just a little — after all, she was mere human when he was, supposedly, a superior version of humans through and through.
“ if we’re equal, then you should also value yourself as much as you do with me. ” a soft comment as her hand came over to his, pressing his palm closer to her cheek and nuzzled to his warmth. his FRAME was sturdier, stronger, faster, more powerful than her in every way possible. a CONSTRUCT like himself, fighting on the field with their M.I.N.D. connected — she felt everything he did during the battle, when he reached his hand out for her, when he saved her despite having his own form marred by an attack. even if he was a construct, he still was able to feel pain the same way humans do, and the thought of him getting HURT for her sake didn’t sit well with her at all.
“ lorelei ... you are my equal, so know that your life means to me as much as mine might mean to you. promise me you’d be more careful, please ? ”
