“If you are insinuating that I purposely avoid healing...” Arms cross over her chest. “Of course I prioritise our leader’s safety, as I do everyone else’s. I don’t believe that I am wrong in wanting to prevent injury - and in any case, there are other very capable healers amongst us that can cure wounds just as well as I can. It is not as though I will never heal.”

“On occasion. Each have their uses. If an enemy is charmed, they will no longer attack us at all - and that sounds far more efficient to me than simply clearing up injuries after they have already happened.”

It had been a long time since they had last spoken like this. 

A lot had happened since their high school days, and it had culminated in an unfortunately explosive parting. For the longest time, the Empress had expected that their paths would never cross again. Really, she would have understood, had Minato opted to stay far away after what had been uncovered about the relationship between her family and his - it was unfortunate, but somebody had to bear responsibility for what had happened, and as the current CEO of the Kirijo Group, it fell to her. That was simply how it had to be. 

She glanced up, looking across to him. A smile blossomed just subtly at the corners of her full lips at his words. If bygones could be bygones, it would mean that both of them could have a weight lifted from their shoulders.

“I would like that.”

The Hierophant places a cup of tea next to all the books and paperwork that lay scattered across the table. "Make sure you take a break every now and again. Don't work yourself too hard Mitsuru."

The clinking of china against the wooden table broke her focus momentarily, the pen that had been gliding across the paper in her trademark cursive coming to a stop as she glanced up at the source of the noise. She couldn’t help but quirk an eyebrow, though she stopped herself short of rolling her eyes. 

“I’m fine, Shinjiro.” In any case, everything she was working on was necessary. It wasn’t as though she could stop - not yet, anyway. A brief check of the clock informed her that she had only been working for an hour or so, which was barely any time at all. Still, her expression softened as she settled her eyes on the cup, watching the delicate wisps of steam and breathing in the subtle aroma of bergamot. “But thank you.”

Kirijo-san, are you concerned that the Phantom Thieves may consider you a target next? What about Medjed? Given the size and history of the Kirijo Group, it seems inevitable that at least one of them would come after you and your company, right?

She manages to repress a sigh. After how many press conferences she’d given in the past, she knew how eager certain journalists were to misinterpret things in order to put a negative spin on their stories. Any action could be construed as something entirely different - and with all the excitement in the media of late, they seemed more sensationalist than ever.

“The Phantom Thieves appear to target criminals, based on the three men that have been linked to them thus far. Since I am not a criminal, I see no need to worry.” Though her tone was cool, it remained shy of being unreasonably short in lieu of being professional. “It seems clear that only those with something to hide should have any fear of retribution from them. As for Medjed… whilst we have become more vigilant with cybersecurity in response to the recent spate of information leaks, I am confident that any attempts to target us will be unsuccessful. I will be monitoring the situation between Medjed and the Phantom Thieves very closely, but I would like to assure them all, if they are watching, that it would be a waste of effort to pursue either myself or the Group.”

“Next question, please.”

“Huh? Oh.” Makoto looked up for a brief moment from the seemingly neverending pile of papers to see Haru peering over her with a weird look on her face. What was that, concern? She shrugged in response, twirling the pen in her fingers and leaning for a moment with her elbow on the desk. “Nah, I’m on top of it all. No, really. I’m fine.” But the sound of a warm drink did sound pretty good... She’d been at this for hours, now - and though she had nobody to blame but herself for her workload, that didn’t stop her tolerance levels from dropping. “Does that offer extend to coffee, or do I have to have your frilly crap?”
