Bradley kisses Jake for the first time with anger clenched between his teeth. Jake kisses Bradley for the first time oddly gentle, benediction. The first time it matters, Jake's fingers rest over his heart. The first time they forget themselves, Nat retches dramatically. The first time after three months apart, neither of them can let go of the other. The first time it's sweet and the first time with teeth and the first time they're laughing too hard to make much of it: a dozen, dozen little novelties each clutched in desperate fingers.

For them, every time is the first.
