She had barely found the courage to wander back in town after the recent events. Having her sight once more was relieving but the thought of how easy it was taken away was frightening. The entire ordeal had added another layer of paranoia to her already fraying mind.
She walked the darkened streets with arms hugging herself. She no longer felt safe by herself and hoped the city aura would ease her mind. As long as she could resist her blood lust. The puzzle and mazes was enough to distract her for a while but now exhaustion was setting in. Avery knew she needed to feed soon or suffer from another episode. Maybe she could find Thomas or Matilda. They had blood bags; or maybe Malachi would help her again. She disliked burdening them, taking advantage of their kindness.
Lost in thought, she didn’t notice the large puddle until her foot sunk in splashing her surroundings. She felt the water soak into her shoe and pant leg before seeing someone was passing at the same time. “I am so sorry! I wasn’t paying attention to my footing. Did I splash you?”
