My god, these BRF stans are insane. Where the hell has William been held accountable by the press? Except for his ‘work-shy’ attitude, which it’s kinda true, but still the only person of the younger royals who has been dragged by the British press for his past actions has always been Harry. They LOVE this “the perfect and saint Heir William” and “the evil and bad Spare Harry” narrative, they have pull this off since they were teenagers, and they still do. Like girl bye
William has gotten some shit, but I can’t tell you when it’s crossed over the line to criticism to being an ass because I haven’t paid THAT much attention.
EDIT: actually no, the press have been an ass towards William when he and Kate made decisions based on their children’s privacy. Lines crossed there for sure!
But when it comes to his racism, it’s always been interesting/disheartening when Harry has finally been called out for his fuck-ups or antisemetism or racism, the media has always used William as an example of what to be. The ‘non-controversial’ brother, when that’s absolutely not true. Even when covering the Nazi costume, there are more than a few articles who use William as an example of a better outfit despite the fact his costume was extremely, and blatantly anti-black. He wore black face or tights (so much better right 🙄) and in his ‘Zulu’ costume.
Even the ones where he isn’t used as an example of a ‘better’ costume, his costume is brought up in a very casual, non-critical manner.
But honestly, just knowing the little I know about britians history of abusing black britons, I’m not surprised they don’t care to call out Williams several incidents of antiblackness and white saviorship, because they don’t see it, or ‘don’t think it’s a big deal.’ Then you have Williams fans - or his wife’s fans - who are just as antiblack as he is so they don’t see a problem with it.
Recognizing Harry has been a racist POS and William has too, plus been allowed to get away with it in a much more extreme level than Harry, is asking for people who regularly demean and belittle black woman with their antiblackness to not be them racist selves. Way too much to ask, unfortunately.
