It had taken a bit of time but Tuck finally felt at peace in Dark Secrets. He knew the people, knew the employees, and could respect what an escape the place actually was. As slow as it was, Tuck finally felt some of his muse coming back to him as well and the club was his inspiration. So Tuck found himself spending more and more time in the club, enjoying everything about it. After a few hours, and a couple of drinks, Tuck was truly feeling good. Getting off his bar stool, he started heading towards the rest. Most of the restrooms were single stalls with a locking door and when Tuck pushed, he either expected it to be empty and open or locked with him waiting. Rather this time, as he pushed the door open, he was greeted instead by a man already in there. “Oh shit, sorry!” Tuck said as he realized his intrusion and surprise.

How was all of this happening? They had entered into this whole thing with a deal and promise - it was fun sex and that was all it could be. Tuck had no illusions about it and he knew just how deeply Kendall loved Leo and no part of him wanted to ruin such a good thing things, such a real thing. Yet something was changing and he could feel it. Something real was building between them and Tuck was terrified they would end up hurting. Rules meant Kendall couldn’t stay the night but still Tuck was asking. Rules meant Tuck could be with others but Kendall was jealous. And now she was starting to pick up on his internal turmoil and it felt like the start of the end. And if he talked about it, well that was certainly the end. “Thank you.” Tuck finally, leaning back into the couch. He open his arm, allowing space for Kendall to curl into his body. Softness was dangerous but Tuck couldn’t stop himself, placing a kiss against her head.

Between the yelling and the body on the ground, the effort it was taking from Tuck to remain calm and cool, the acting like it was fine, was starting to break. While Tuck got in a workout here and there, it was simply impossible that one punch would knock this guy out cold. The guy who was now laid out had been creepily watching Alexxis all night and Tuck had wanted to keep an eye on him for this very reason. When she had left the DJ booth, the man had followed her and so Tuck had followed him and when he went to make some kind of move, Tuck had turned the guy and punched him. And now he was out cold and posing a serious problem. “I didn’t even hit him that hard!” Tuck replied, looking between Alexxis and the man.

There was pounding and for a few moments, Tuck couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. As he pulled himself to a sitting positon, it was then he realized that the pounding was actually coming from his head. There had been too many vodka tonics last night as he was struggling to recall just what all transpired. It had been a delayed response but he finally realized what woke him was May’s voice. “Why?” He croaked out, his throat dry and in need of water, “You got a boyfriend that is gonna kick my ass?”

Kendall looked at Tuck with a wide-eyed curiosity-filled expression on her face. Were was this coming from? Yes, they’d been hanging out a lot. Yes, they had a great deal in common and the sex was fantastic, but that’s where it ended. They had an arrangement. Friends with benefits. Perhaps if Leo hadn’t been in her life, but he was and she loved him. Plain and simple. Yet incredibly complicated all at the same time. So, as she stared at him, she opened her mouth to speak, only for the words to come out more like a stammering mess, “What? I - I wasn’t. You know how I feel about my fiance. Wait.” her brows furrowed together in confusion, “do you love me? Is that what this is about?”

This was where context was important and a few simple words definitely had Tuck and Kendall on the edge of a blowup. Whatever they had, it had rules and it had boundaries and the only agreement was that both of those stuck by those. For Tuck, that meant never entertaining a single thought about anything with love or deeper feelings for Kendall. And his own damn words with no context had them both in a place that broke all of that. “Whoa, whoa.” Tuck said, pulling his hands behind his back that held a box. “It was supposed to be funny. Cause I got you this.” Holding out the box, Tuck tried to steel his face, wiping any trace of panic that had just hit.

Sitting back in the booth of a private room, Tuck let his eyes take their time lingering on every part of Kendall as she slowly spun around the pole. Since that first night, this had become something of their pattern. She’d dance for him, they’d head down to their diner, he’d buy dinner and then they would just lose hours together. Watching Kendall spin again though, something was stirring in Tuck. The energy was already charged and the longer Tuck watch, the less he could wait. Getting up, Tuck caught Kendall’s hip as she came back around, stopping her. With little warning, he pulled her in close, crushing his lips to hers in a bruising kiss.

It had turned into the sort of morning that both he and Liz had swore would not happen. She had stayed over, not entirely unexpected despite the looseness of their undefined fling, but in the morning, Tuck had been the one to suggest that she stay for breakfast instead of rushing straight back to the club. And after breakfast, it had been Tuck that suggested Liz stay and watch whatever movie was playing. Halfway though, Tuck had gotten an email from publisher and was scrolling through it mindlessly. Liz had been next to him, feet tucked under herself as she watched, his own legs stretched onto the ottoman. With far more ease and comfort than an undefined thing should have, Tuck hand reached over, easily uncurling Liz’s legs and stretching them across his lap. His fingers lazily traced patterns up and down her cafe as he kept glancing between the screen and his phone.
