( =^..^= ) ~ “ hey, come baaack! ” sanniang cried, chasing after a grey-white tabby scampering down the hallway. its lithe body bounded silently, the bold colors of its fur in stark contrast with the deep blue carpet. though she heard herself make audible thumps as her boots connected with the floor, she had no regard for the noise she was making—her priority was catching her cat companion!
with matching dexterity, the girl followed the animal quite closely, rounding corners and praying she wouldn’t run into a guard on patrol every time she entered a new corridor. at least she had broken into the less populated part of the wei palace; otherwise, she would have surely been found by now, what with the ruckus she was causing. a tricky misstep made her fall forward, but she transitioned easily into running on all fours, riding on her momentum to scurry after her feline friend. as the cat neared the end of the hall, which split into two new passageways on either side, it ducked underneath the table leaning against the wall, crumpling its body in between the legs.
sanniang wasted neither time nor opportunity. without thinking, she dove forward with her hands outstretched, reaching for the trapped feline. her hands grasped at air, however, as the kitten hurried out from its spot and beelined down one of the corridors; she landed on the ground and slid uncontrollably, face crashing right into the wooden table. with a dangerously loud clatter, the girl yelped as her forehead banged against the furniture, sending a vase she hadn’t noticed above her teetering down to the floor. a sharp crash echoed throughout the halls, and a piece of porcelain lightly grazed the top of her ear.
“ ow!!! humph! ” she grunted indignantly, retrieving her arms from under the table to rub at her forehead. it didn’t occur to her until she stood up, however, that she had just broken one of the wei castle’s vases. with wide, paranoid eyes and perked ears, the girl suddenly detected someone approaching from the opposite end of the hall, and she quickly darted to the side, down the corridor that her cat had disappeared to long ago. “ crap! ” came quietly from her gritted teeth as she turned to a random corner and pressed herself against the wall, shoulders tense as she tried to figure out where the other person was approaching from
well, she reasoned in her head despite the blood pounding in her ears, i guess life wouldn’t be fun if you didn’t take risks...heh!
