Simply put, he doesn't.
At least not in any healthy way. In his unique situation, Thace has had to spend decades burying his emotions in service of maintaining a straight face in tough situations. Since entering the Blade, he's had neither the time nor the opportunity to actually sit with his feelings and untangle them, given how hard he has to work to maintain a mask of indifference in the face of the Empire's crimes. So when trauma happens (which is often) he's just sort of left holding the bag while everyone else gets to feel however they like out in the open.
So, he tends to carry things with him for a lot longer than is probably healthy. Deaths, disappointments, heartbreak—all of them linger in the back of his head until he has the rare chance to work them out. Usually on the training deck, with a dummy. Which is less effective than just talking things through with another person, but he doesn't exactly have anyone he can share with who wouldn't turn him in the moment he says something off-color.
