evee’s heart was racing more than it normally did during battles, more than it should be perhaps too. fighting alongside her own soldiers within the arbor wilds brought unwanted flashbacks to that night in adamant. the death toll from both sides, having to sit through the names of them as cullen read them off just like he had at haven. her staff felt clumsy in her hands as her eyes busied themselves with trying to locate the location of those soldiers that were with her every second that past. her spells were erratic and her hands felt unable to keep up with the momentum of the magic she was used to.
she was being reckless, so her usual keen eyes failed to catch the glimmers of a rogue ready to plunge his dagger into her spine. time slowed down when the puff of purple smoke flooded the corners of her eyes, and she quickly spun around to catch the daggers with her staff. she let out a yelp when one of the blades caught her fingers and she was sent to the floor with the rogue’s force.
’ get off!! ‘ evee seethed as she attempted to knee the elf in the ribs to no avail. she felt the pressure of his blade on her neck as she did her best to hold him away with her staff, though her arms shook with her with his weight.
however she heard a holler, one that did not belong to her or the elf and she watches as his eyes went wide. his hold on her loosened as he coughed out blood that landed just on her cheek before he slowly slumped over. two daggers clung to his upper bag and mairi’s hands curled around on each of the dagger’s grips. her breathing was shaky as she kicked the heavy body off of her before standing once again, blood trickling from her hand.
