"Joan. Joanjoanjoanjoanjoan." She is almost BREATHLESS and she can't really hold it in-- she looks like she RAN, staring at the taller woman for a few seconds, face red, holding her breath in. Then, she moves her hand, showing the ring that Capo hid from her for so long & finally brought to light. "...I'm e-e-engaged." She smiles, her smile is wide & bright with tears glimmering her eyes. "Joan, I'm--" and THERE she goes for the hug.
She looks startled as soon as Eileen approaches her---out of plain paranoia. Her status, her whole situation, has had her mind too clouded to actually think or do anything properly; that goes for seeing her friends, socializing. This includes Eileen herself.
Joan feels guilty about it, that’s certain: she feels bad for not giving her friend attention lately, but with the dullness in her heart and the matters at hand ( ergo her homelessness ) it’s kind of impossible to think about it without completely losing her shit. Nevertheless, Joan notices---she sees the ring---and it’s so, so... so nice. There are no other words to describe it. Undoubtly, she is happy for her friend; she deserves it. She deserves this happiness. And because of this, Joan shoves right down her own throat the bad news of her ‘eviction’.She’ll save it for another time. Or maybe never. If the latter occurs, she could just tell her that she decided to change home with no real reason whatsoever---if she manages to actually live in an house. Somehow, she sees the possibility of that scenario being equal to zero.
Joan returns the hug---tightly---for reasons different than Eileen’s. But she decides to concentrate on her friend, for now: that’s the best way to act. She’d be a fucking terrible friend, otherwise. Those are tears of happiness, and she’d rather not be the cause for their turn into the sadness kind.
“Eileen, I’m---I’m so happy for you...” and she is. She is, but her voice’s more wavery than she’d like. “About time. I was wonderin’ when Capo would get himself to ask the big question,” she says with a chuckle following, an hand ruffling her friend’s red head and a smile on her face. “Do you already know when the date is? I wanna be one of the main gals, you know.”
( will she even be there when it’ll happen? ) --- @faillte.
