It felt like hours between jobs; writing the extensive after-action report and debrief, attending meetings and thorough screenings to clear her for active duty. She hadn't been able to even lift a drink to her lips after her most recent job in Fargo, before the phone rang. LANGLEY clutched at Jess' patience on the other side, giving some stupid exposition before requesting her presence.

Jess figured it was punishment for that Texas job a few weeks ago.
Sat at the designated safehouse, she was sipping from her flask in the corner. A face like thunder, something was clearly wrong. Usually, she'd be all dry humour and blazing wit, people begging her to shut up. But those poor BSAA soldiers stationed with her were practically begging to her just to say one measly syllable.
The familiar voice from behind prompted Jess to look over her shoulder, and when she did her eyes lit up almost immediately. For the first time in... too long, Jess was grinning and it meant more than just a reflex to stress.
"Minseo!" Accompanied by the raising of her flask and then a ceremonious sip taken. She then offered it towards her friend ( a rare gesture - friendship ) . "Does that usually get you laid? Or is that you trying to convince me not to tell Chris that you're on-post with me? You're failing at BOTH, by the way."
