so do you guys ever think about how closely harry resembled james? he was the spitting image of him, except for his eyes--but you wouldn’t be able to see those in a dimly lit room.
do you ever think about how remus had to see how sirius reacted to the news of james’ death? at the time, the world thought he was a madman who had betrayed the potters, killed his friend, and laughed about it. his image was seen everywhere, and after twelve years of believing sirius laughed because he’d tricked james, remus learned sirius had snapped and laughed with such a soul crushing sadness, he hadn’t even been able to speak properly or flee.
so, do you ever think about how, when sirius fell through the veil and remus held james potter’s son back, for a moment, he may not have seen harry. he might have seen james. james, who would have reacted in exactly the same way, and been hellbent on diving into the veil after sirius to pull him out. who would refuse to believe the great sirius black had been done in by a the drapery. who would be convinced sirius was going to make his grand reentrance and save the world--he just needed a hand up to do it.
do you ever think about how remus lupin was forced to watch his two closest and dearest friends grieve for one another, on top of this poor boy he loves falling apart in his arms? how he pushed his own grief aside for long enough to hold harry and tell him sirius wasn’t coming back?
in that moment, in that single moment, remus was more heroic, brave, and self-sacrificing than anyone else alive in the series at that point.
