“Sure. Whatever you want.”
Marnie came up beside him, grabbing the
oven mitts. She playfully shouldered him
before opening the oven and grabbing the
glass pan filled with chicken. She moved over
to the island and placed the pan on top of
the potholders she had helped lay out.
She liked how this all felt. He tried to be a
gentleman, but he always made it awkward.
He wasn’t her boyfriend and she wasn’t his
girlfriend, but he was her something. He was
her person, to put it in simple terms.
She was quick to sneak up behind him once
more, wrapping her arms around his torso
from behind. Her chin dug into his back a bit
as dark eyes looked up at him through thick
lashes.
