    Really, Arthur knew he should be a little more GRATEFUL. 

    He didn’t enjoy being hauled around like a kid. Yet, given the sudden light that filled the structure they were hiding in and the figures moving inside from the campfire outside, he knew if she hadn’t pulled him down behind some boxes, he likely would’ve gotten a BULLET for his mistake. He pressed his back against the wood behind him, removing his pistol from his holster as he waited until either they had to make an opening or they would move on. However, the hushed berating he got didn’t HELP matters too much. 

    “I weren’t lookin’ to make that much noise,” he snapped in a low whisper, “We’d have to search there eventually, ain’t my fault this place is a little too SMALL for me right now.”

A new town always felt like a FRESH START. At least, in some sense. Dutch had that certain GLINT in his eyes, of course, and was quick to have the gang go explore. However, their exit from their previous location hadn’t exactly been CLEAN and Arthur still bore the paranoia that brought about. Yet, as far as he was aware, the stares he met were more curious than suspicious. So far, that is.

Given that there was some sort of talk about some random COWS, Arthur figured he had enough room to at least see what he could find without putting too much attention on himself. Rural areas still had some potential, and whatever he might have missed, Arthur was sure Hosea would sniff out. Still, he was out and figured that he should see what he could find out about the area.

Currently, the stranger he was approaching seemed like a good place to start.

“You ain’t the owner of them cows, are you?” he asked, pulling his horse to a stop from a slow trot and cast a quick glance over his shoulder. “Heard some folks were tryin’ to figure out where to take ‘em.”

    Arthur liked to think he knew when he was in over his head. 

    Of course, that mixed terribly with his STUBBORNNESS, but his age had allowed his recklessness to die out a little bit. It would be easier to just open fire, and he might have done just that if he didn’t care about drawing attention to himself. At the moment, however, he knew it was best to see if he could handle this in a relatively CALM manner, or at least to drag it out long enough to where he had an advantage to just shoot and take off before the law got on his tail. 

    Still, he couldn’t help the somewhat FRUSTRATED exhale out of his nose as he knew he’d rather just not be in this situation in the first place. It didn’t matter–either he dealt with it NOW or pay for it later. 

    Pulling his revolver from it’s holster, Arthur tensed as he looked around himself with a hard expression. 

    “Best ya just come on out, partner,” he stated, “At this distance, I’m a regular Otis Miller.”

    He cast Sean a glance out of the corner of his eye, letting out a slow sigh. Yes, so, he MAY have went against what the younger man had established as a plan. Yet, they got away UNSCATHED, hadn’t they? Still, Sean was very quick to remind him of the minute decision he had made previous. 

    “Yeah, I know what y’ said. I felt different.”

    He didn’t like the looks of this.

    There was no way to rob a place SILENTLY--not in the town like this, but more and more men started turning up. More weapons, more horses. With a quiet curse, Arthur ducked his head back away from the window, ducking down toward the opened safe to tuck a couple more bills into his bag before rising up.

     “Got some fellers comin’ that don’t look too friendly, we best get outta here...” he warned, trying to think of a way out of there without getting RIDDLED WITH BULLETS.

    While he wasn’t exactly feeling the VICTORY the other man was feeling, there was some relief upon escaping by the hair on the back of his neck. Of course this had gone to shit, at least in ARTHUR’S opinion. More often than not, he was RIGHT. Still, he let out a huff once he allowed Vik to slow some, glancing back toward him. 

    “It might not be the hero’s welcome you’re imaginin’,” he commented, “Drew in HALF THE TOWN before he got out, wouldn’t be tossin’ that ‘round as much of a SUCCESS.”

    Immediately, his hands stopped their search for his matches, unlit cigarette hanging somewhat from between his lips. Arthur turned his head slightly to glance at the STRANGER who had just held out the flame toward him, his eyebrows raised somewhat. Considering how people usually were in this town, he hadn’t been expecting to have that offered out toward him. (Considering how he was as a person and the people he ran with, he couldn’t blame them.) 

    Still, his pause was only for a moment before he found himself shrugging lightly, shifting somewhat to light the cigarette between his lips. He cupped his hand around the flame somewhat, lighting the end and taking a small pull. Leaning back, Arthur blew out some smoke from his nose, giving him a small nod. 

    “Thanks, partner.”
