"everything feels so different now. hard t' really process. . .anything, really. but i don't want t' let ya go. not yet. so stay. jus' a lil longer." the words come weakly, it was strange, being so vulnerable, but inuyasha was trying. it was a feeble attempt, but he didn't want to lose her again.

🏹 Kikyou listened to the hanyou quietly, her gaze unfocused on a point on the earth..her mind on the words being uttered and the memories that were being conjured. Her fingers brushed against the pad of her thumb, feeling the desolate and chilling coldness of her clay flesh.

Everything was different..and there was no changing that. It was the most basic law of life--that nothing remains static. Change always comes..time always move forward.

"Very well, Inuyasha..Only until your companions return..", the miko relented softly, her heart aching and grieving at the vulnerability and distress being displayed by the one she loved. There was no solution she could offer that would ease his suffering. No matter how hard she tried..no matter how desperately she wanted to help him heal and wade through the confusion..Kikyou could not.

In the end, her presence inflicted more harm than good upon this world. Upon the man she loved. It was why she kept her distance..for his sake mostly..and to a lesser, more selfish degree..herself. To not be able to be the one he could rely on..lean on..was a wound that will always bleed. To see him with another..her reincarnation..only deepened the hurt and aggravated the gaping wound in her soul.

For now, however, she will linger as per his request..Just until those that make him whole..help him..support him..come back. If she could give him a moment of comfort and solace now..then it would be worth the pain she was feeling.

If for once, her presence did more good than harm, then perhaps she could leave a little easier when it was time.

"It is inevitable..that you will have to let me go. You know why..but I will stay with you. Just for a little while longer. After that, you must promise not to come looking for me. Everything you need..you already have and there's nothing I, a dead woman, can give you."
