He hated this. Leaves crinkled and twigs cracked under his feet, sending chills down his spine each time, wary eyes scanning over the forested environment. This wasn’t a place he knew. Or really could recognize. And he had zero prior experience in a place like it.
He felt anger bubbling.
Survival was easy, most likely. He could do it. But, in a place like this? He didn’t know. He guessed trees would be good to avoid the leaves and other litter on the ground, but hell. This was ridiculous.
The sound of movement whispering between the trees sent his hackles raising, position slowly shifting to a more stable form. He didn’t like it, it made his collar burn, made him-- scared. He didn’t know what to expect, he was in the dark.
An impact sent him crashing to the ground, rolling and steam hissing from his skin, blood warm and the smell hitting his nose mercilessly. Without hesitation, he swung himself up, landing a kick on whatever had managed to get him, body curled as he flipped to get his feet underneath him.
There was a grin on his face.
