His words earns a laugh to naturally flow out through parted lips.  âIâd prefer camping~!â Itâs true, she wouldnât want to be here fighting creatures OR residence of Mu. âAfter all this is over, we should. I went camping ONE time. It was fun!â Seriously, is this the right time to think about such things, though? Then, as if to answer that question, something in the air begins to smell quite disgustingly foul. âSomeone farted?â No, she knows what it is. Sheâs seen it before when she was last here. She had been able to avoid this creature. Hopefully they can avoid it this time. âHeine, câmon. We should get going.â itâs not that sheâs afraid more so that she really doesnât want to fight something. Not this guy, or anything really.Â
Eyes darts over to Heine once she begins moving. She can tell the Great Malboro is moving too. She can smell it, hear how the little tentacles brushes against the grass. âThereâs a lot of creatures here, obviously. Some of them are poisonous and then some are small while others are huge. This oneâŠ.Is pretty big.â
Now she places gloveless finger over her lip to keep him quiet. Sheâs sure thereâs really no need to do so. He probably gets it. The finger is then brought down in front of her. Sheâs stillâŠ.hiding.
âNo place is entirely safe, but we should be able to find an area where we can at least take it easy.â Letâs seeâŠ.
âRight hereâŠI think if we go through here, weâll get to the garden. Letâs go.âÂ
Ah, his comment worked. He had intended for it to be that way-- it was easier when there was someone a lot more cheerful around, being happy and all that. Made it easier to ignore what you were personally going through. The offer to camp was interesting, he had to admit-- but he wasnât sure it was really that far for him to feel comfortable going camping. With anyone.
As he was going to reply, a rancid smell filled the air, his nose wrinkling. He didnât recognize it, but random, rancid smells coming by out of nowhere meant nothing good. Heine knew that of all things. So, he follows without hesitation, mouth clamped shut. He wasnât sure if the source of the smell could hear; so he didnât risk speaking, however much he actually wanted to. It was easier to distract yourself when speaking.
There was a soft rustling in the distance, different from the wind; heâd spent enough time here for to be able to tell that even a bit. It was movement, of pressure and weight, of something more than just a breeze.Â
âI think I got a welcome party with some already.â
Heine sighed out, voice low and in a whisper; he didnât dare raise his voice high enough to draw attention. Whether Kachina heard it or not, well-- that was up in the air but it didnât matter much in the end. When Kachina motioned for quiet, he shut up, focusing on lowering every sort of noise he could make, from not speaking, to avoid shifting and having his clothes rub against each other.
Kachina was a-- well, she was an amazing help so far, and Heine was glad he ran into her. She already had a place in mind where they could crash for awhile! That was more than Heine could ever hope for. With a nod, letting Kachina know he heard, he motioned for her to lead the way.
baddestdangerboy:
His chest puffs up with the rising indignation of his entire soul. As always.Â
âI wouldnât fucking give up! Thatâs for cowards, for people who canât find anything. Even a damn pet to take care of for the next day! Iâm game if you are. Donât pussy out now.â
The teen pauses, âCan we reallyâŠ?â Be okay?
Thereâs a little quirk, almost like he wanted to start smiling, when mini-Badou responds with indignation. Itâs a relief to see-- that sorta life is what he really was going for. Badou should be having that sorta life, not a depressed, given up attitude.
The question didnât need to be completed for Heine to know what he meant. It was one question he honestly didnât know the answer for.
âWho the everliving fuck knows.
But, we canât get there if we give up before even trying.â
With a nice little pause, Heine took a moment before finally letting out a breath.
âWe have our deal, yeah?â
Who knows, maybe mini-Badou would even make it into a competition-- itâd be a nice, funny thing to happen if it did. Either way, it was something to aim for-- and that was more than enough.
baddestdangerboy:
His throat burns from screaming, chest tight from holding in more screams of rageâ at Heine, at the world. Fists clenched so tight he can feel little bits of blood where his nails have pierced through the skin.Â
Everything aches. His heart aches.Â
âA deal? Whatâre you talking about,â he croaks.Â
Heine would accept being yelled at. Heâd accept being hit, being kicked, being spat on. He wouldnât mind it. He deserved it; he brought this about, so he deserved to be punished for it. Heine feels so tired, fatigue weighing him down, but he couldnât just leave it at this. No.
He wouldnât let himself become a person like that.
âYou said all those fancy words and have no intention to follow them?
The deal is so we both fucking follow those shitty words of âwisdom.ââ
It was pathetic, but Heine knew that he wouldnât be able to do that on his own. Who knew about Badou; he managed just fine at home. Here? He wasnât sure.
âUnless you just want to give up.â
mxonkxss:
District Mu reminds her so much of back home when Asher had first found her. Not when she was 5, but when she first arrived on Earth. It had been in such a foresty area such as this one. She had been in this situation before. All alone, lost and unsure of where to go. That was when she was 5. When she escaped from that god awful facility. Thatâs where Asher had found her the second time. Perhaps thatâs why sheâs so easily able to navigate through here. She has experience through these areas. The forest, she likes because the forest is where the moon shines the brightest, she feels. The view is much better and the scenery is so much more beautiful. Unfortunately, at the moment thereâs no time to admire the view. Sheâs been fighting from the moment she got here, until now and the sun is already setting. Just ONE last wolf-like creature down and sheâll be able to relax. At least until more of them come.Â
So, with that in mind, here she goes, leaping onto one of those bastards back like a spider monkey. With a quick movement of her wrists sheâs snapped the neck easily. She hops off just before the creature falls to the ground and she sighs, âAhhhhhâŠ..What the heckâŠâÂ
Kachina?
Red eyes scans the area until they land on the familiar red eyed albino. âHeine!âÂ
Heine had always been in a city, whether above or under, in all his life. Never had he gone to a forest. He wasnât even sure if there was a park back home. Not like it wouldâve mattered-- he wasnât in the Aboveground enough to ever know how it was like to be or fight there. He wasnât used to the environment, the challenges-- he was completely in the dark on how to survive. He didnât know if stuff was safe to eat, what sort of shelter would be best, nothing.
He hated it. It was a horrible feeling, knowing everything was stacked against you, and there was no way to get past it. He couldnât suddenly learn what was safe, what was best. There was too high risk. Heâd been fighting off and on, and there was little breaks he found. Whether those he had managed to get back off can back for  more, or new ones that decided to go for the weakened prey.
As if heâd let himself die here, on terms far from his own.
Really, when he had spotted the flash, it felt like a punch to the gut. But, when he had snapped out of it, called out, got a response-- it felt like a fresh breath. He could breathe again.
âDidnât know you wanted to go camping too.â
He managed to choke out, trying to do his best to act like everything was fine-- though really, it wasnât. It wasnât as bad as before, but there was enough to drag it slowly back up, and this wasnât the time to deal with it. He squashed it down; heâd deal with it once this mess was over.
blowyourhousedown:
Unlike the man he was soon to meet, Bigby was in his element. Perhaps a little too much so, and yet after the recent encounter with the North Wind, he felt a little more settled in his skin, a little less likely to run wild just because of the area reminding him of a different time and place.
Heâd been patrolling, in a sense, since heâd ended up in Mu - neither survival nor the time limit were much of a threat to him, not out here - searching for anyone else that might need his help. Human blood, in this case, is what has him come running; the scent of it is marked out here, easy to detect among all the plant life.
Of course, plants arenât the only life out here, and Bigby bites back a curse as another scent reaches him - something wolf-like, but different enough (at least, to him) to be counted as only similar in nature.
With all that, heâs not surprised when his nose takes him to a pack of wolfish creatures attacking someone heâs fairly sure is human. The man is doing well enough for himself, but the things have numbers and a strange aggression on their side; the way they launch themselves at him is not in the manner of predators seeking prey, but of angered killers defending their territory.
That in mind, Bigby doesnât jump in immediately: staying back in the trees, he growls a clear, loud warning. Itâs up to the false wolves whether or not to listen; if they donât, well, he canât be held responsible for what might happen next.
It had been too easy to slip into combat, his blood pumping and a smile on his face as he kicked and threw. He was wary of getting hit-- if only because bloodloss was still an issue, even with his healing. He got cuts and scrapes, but managed well.
Because it was just like fighting König and his brothers, just lacking the mask and the size, and Heine not having a gun to handle them. He was slipping from the attacks, fighting as viciously as he was being attacked-- though he knew it wouldnât end well. He didnât even have blunt force working in his favor too much; his kicks and throws only did so much, and the monsters were smart enough to not have friendly fire.
He barely could keep his head straight, the thrill of the fight singing in his veins and the dog silent. It was amazing, freeing, that he didnât even notice the cuts and rips adding up until suddenly the wolf-like creatures backed off, a growl in the air. There was a snarl in his throat already, lips curled and stance dropping to more defensive stance as the creatures retreated.
With the threat gone, the crash back to reality was quick and way too sudden that he felt off-kilter. Almost disappointed. That was the most fun he had in ages, and it was-- wait, they were driven away automatically almost, which meant whatever had growled was stronger.
   The dog was practically dancing.
baddestdangerboy:
This doesnât make him feel any better. It doesnât give him that satisfaction, that rush of victory doesnât come. Badouâs entire body seems to droop too.Â
This is an entire failure.
âNoâŠit means you gotta MAKE SOMETHING outta it. Outta yourself. Prepare for the future, whatever it isâŠbe there for it.â
Badouâs speaking these words but does he really feel it in his soul? Heâs a goddamn hypocrite.Â
Heâs the despicable one.
This took a turn for the worst-- and it was all Heineâs fault. He couldnât keep his fucking mouth closed, and look what happened. This sorta bullshit shouldnât have come up. Never. Not with a mini-Badou who didnât even know him.
There was a knee-jerk reaction to say âI have no futureâ, and he almost did say it. He kicked himself before he could, since that would just make it worse than it already was!
The words thatâre spoken are just as empty as Heine is. Heine knew it. Heâd seen Badou make something out of himself-- but was it really for himself? He didnât know, didnât ask for the details.Â
He didnât want this to be the time where he did.
âComing from experience?
If not, then how about we make a deal to do it?â
Itâs hollow, but the purpose wasnât to get an agreement. It was to get mini-Badou back to the little brat, the kid who tried to snark and went back and forth with him. It was his fault this happened so he was going to try his damnedest to turn it around again.
@mxonkxss ||Â Event Starter Call
Trekking through an unfamiliar environment was tiring. He had a headache pounding, but surprisingly, it was just due to a hit of the head from being ambushed. Nothing more serious than that. Still nothing good, but it was better than getting his guts ripped out, healing or not.
A flash of white, almost too quick to see, caught his eye. A plummet to the pit of his stomach, because it felt like a dream-- then he remembered. Itâd be stupid, but fuck it all if Heine was known for always being smart.
âKachina?â
@kitsuneodoru ||Â Event Starter Call
Covered in dust and movement slow, Heine was not liking having to trek through the forest to get-- well, out. He didnât like it-- however much Lily wouldâve loved to see all the life and play around, he hated it.
Though, that could also be because of the random attackers who seemed to be made of plants themselves. It was annoying, and his nerves were high due to the unfamiliar environment and more than disadvantage he had. Hand-to-hand only went so far when fighting against things that werenât human.
He almost doesnât catch it; a flare of colors, light but distinct to the rest of the location; he already dropped into a combat stance and was ready to rush before he realized it wasnât one of the usual attackers.
âWhat the fuck is this, some sort of game?â
This wasnât just him anymore; there were others. That changed the ballgame.
@blowyourhousedown || Event Starter Call
He hated this. Leaves crinkled and twigs cracked under his feet, sending chills down his spine each time, wary eyes scanning over the forested environment. This wasnât a place he knew. Or really could recognize. And he had zero prior experience in a place like it.
   He felt anger bubbling.
Survival was easy, most likely. He could do it. But, in a place like this? He didnât know. He guessed trees would be good to avoid the leaves and other litter on the ground, but hell. This was ridiculous.
The sound of movement whispering between the trees sent his hackles raising, position slowly shifting to a more stable form. He didnât like it, it made his collar burn, made him-- scared. He didnât know what to expect, he was in the dark.
An impact sent him crashing to the ground, rolling and steam hissing from his skin, blood warm and the smell hitting his nose mercilessly. Without hesitation, he swung himself up, landing a kick on whatever had managed to get him, body curled as he flipped to get his feet underneath him.
There was a grin on his face.
baddestdangerboy:
âYOUâRE GODDAMN DESPICABLE!!!â Badou spits venom, mercury frothing from his tongue. His eye blazes as if his gaze could light Heine on fireâ and damn does he wish.
âDonât you give me that fake BULLSHIT! Like I canât see how fucking empty you areââ
Like me.
Oh, heâd agree with that, a bit. He definitely was some level of despicable. Trying to lie like that, what the hell was he thinking? Didnât doing that just...but, sometimes you needed to do it. It was a way out, however horrid it felt.
Heine honestly felt sick with himself, but he kept quite the masquerade for mini-Badou. Though, that last line-- it was enough to let him know that he wasnât going to get away with it.
His smile seemed to droop, eyebrows creasing and arms crossing.
âYeah, right.â
He was empty alright. Completely, utterly empty.
âLook at that, thereâs a budding informant yet.â
His throat felt dry, and his voice kept dipping lower and lower. The smile had finally dropped, the ruse Heine had attempted to use long gone.
âWhat does it matter if Iâm empty?
Doesnât that just give you reason to cut me off?â
Or are you already too deep? It was left unsaid, but likely was obvious enough that words werenât needed.
PSA.    if  you  ever  write  me  a  starter,   i  will  like  it  as  soon  as  i  see  it  before  drafting  it.    so  if  i  never  reply  to  it   &   i  never  liked  it,   itâs  because  i  didnât  see  it.   i  swear  iâd  never  leave  a  starter  hanging,    but  thereâs  a  lot  of  things  i  donât  see  until  way  later   &  i  donât  want  people  to  think  theyâre  wasting  their  time  when  really  iâm  probably  dying  to  see  your  starter   &  just  never  did.  Â
baddestdangerboy:
BadouâŠdoesnât have that answer. He has no clue whenâ he figured itâd all fall into place somewhere, somewhere he can bury the hole in his heart the shape of his brother.
âFuck if I knowâ but whining about being dead ainât gonna solve it! You might as well be alive andâŠand I dunno, get a damn hobby!â
He wasnât expecting an answer, honestly. He didnât want one. Isnât there supposed to be a cheesy line of âyouâll know when you find itâ? Thatâs how things worked, right? He would need to find his own reason to go on.
   Fuck that.
Still, he dropped the serious expression, gave a fucking grin (fake, stop acting and pretending), and gave a short laugh.
âWhat, fell for that bullshit, did you?
Why would I want a dirt nap when thereâs shit to do?â
He was lying out of his ass, but itâd probably fool the kid. He was acting like an asshole and that would be distracting enough.
âAnd here I thought an informant needed to be good at reading people!
   The standards have changed.â
Throwing in a dramatic sigh and a shake of the head, even a little shrug-- itâd do the trick, huh?
mxonkxss:
She wasnât expecting anything to be said. After all, what was there to say? He could say something like âYEAH letâs be friends!â Or, âI Donât need any friendsâ or laugh or something, but would those have been truly how he felt? Sheâs not sure. Maybe heâs not either. Thereâs no rush and itâs not like sheâs forcing him to be friends with her. Sheâs not a child to do such a thing. She really wants to help him and that means patience and understanding. Letting someone move and go on their OWN pace. Thatâs the right thing to do. Seeing him do this, seeing how his body language is, is worrying but if he says heâs okayâŠThen heâs okay. She believes heâs stronger than whatever it is thatâs tormenting him.Â
Why do you want to help him so much?
Mmmmm, probably because this kind of reminds me of myselfâŠ
Right. After getting out of that hellhole of a mess, she had been quite hesitant in everything. Even Asher. She had been real hesitant to grab his hand when he found her. That voice in the back of her head had been much louder than it is now. Every single one looked like they were going to get her, kill her. She was so paranoid. So afraid. The world she once was in was no longer though. Asher and the grandmother who helped her, who had given her a name were sweet. They are sweet. They made her world a better place and it, unfortunately, took some time getting used to. She wasnât used to it.Â
Used to the chaos and destruction that your world had to offer.Â
âAhhhh~!â She exclaims. Arm raising pointed gloved fingers at a location, âThey sell the BEST kind of pastries here. You want some?âÂ
YeahâŠ.If something like that could have happened to something like her, then itâs only fair that can happen to someone like him.Â
âLetâs go get some. Câmon! Iâll show you which ones are the best, âkay!?â Sheâs already bouncing her way inside.Â
She was so happy. Heine kept thinking that, maybe Lily wouldâve been like that had she lived. Maybe just maybe...Friends, being so happy and cheerful despite what was happening-- thatâd be like her, wouldnât it? But she was gone, gone gone-- and it was his fault. He didnât know what friends were-- could Badou and him be considered friends? Would people point at how him and Naoto had interacted and say they were friends? Who the fuck knew. Everything was screwing with his head.
Heine needed both his pace and a pace far from his own. Because he would hesitate, heâd stop and turn and just reverse what had happened if there wasnât someone firmly grounding him to the progress he had made. Pulling him further, to keep making progress instead of just standing there like a fucking moron.
Heâs dealt with it before. He was stronger. (No, youâre not.) He could do it. (No, you canât.) He was fine. (Youâve never been fine.) He just needs to be reminded of that.(It wonât help.) He moved past his personal hell once, he could do it again. (You never moved on, and you never will.)Maybe, just maybe, he needed time. (There will never be enough time.) He could do this. (No, you canât. You  c a n â t.)
His teeth are grinding, grinding, nails digging into flesh again, ripping and clawing at his neck. His breathing was too fast, however much he tried to regulate it. Too much, too much, it was too much--
   He was pathetic.
He wasnât used to it. He probably never would. But he forced his arms down, forced his shaking hands into his pockets, forced his breathing back to normal. Force it, pretend like youâre fine, that you arenât cracking, and nothing will matter. It will go away. He just needed to try.(Trying gets you nowhere.)
Jumping at the yell, taking a few steps back, eyes wide and shoulders stiff; he hadnât expected the sudden exclamation, and he took that as a focus to help get away from it all. He needed to stop thinking, needed something to act as a buffer-- talking about be good. Yeah, thatâd be good. It was hard to sink when he was talking.
âWhat do they have?â
It was quiet, hoarse-- huffing, he tried again.
âWhatâre pastries?â
Were they things made of paste? Did paste taste good? There was probably a store like that back home, but Heine never spent enough time Aboveground to find a store like it. She was so excitable-- something that tugged on the heartstrings too much. But, he could do this, right? He was allowed this, right? To be able to ignore everything for awhile longer? Was that too much to ask?
Even if it was, he followed Kachina in, expression calm and steady, like nothing had happened. He was good at pretending. He was good at it. It wouldnât hurt to pretend for awhile longer.
bloodcursed:
â© |Â Not much of a talker, wasnât he. But precise, on point, no thoughts wasted to the superfluous. He could work with it seeing as the curtness was not accompanied by impatience. A weird mix, almost militaristic but moreso than what he had ever been used to.Â
âIF IT IS FROM MY WORLD.â
He intercepted. It had been a hunch, nothing more. A lot of creatures felt similar to his legions but turned out to be a different species altogether. Some had more semblances to others and shared no name.Â
ââŠBUT I WOULDNâT KNOW. THEREâS TOO MANY TO BE CERTAIN WHAT EXACTLY WE ARE FACING. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FORââ
A thud, too loud, crunching metal. It was already above, falling with gaping maw meant to tear him to shreds. With not even the length of a finger remaining between them, he disappeared from the spot where it crashed. Mark missed. His body reformed from black fog just in front of Heine.
      âTHAT. I HOPE YOU HAVE A WEAPON.â
Countless whites bared at the two- there was already dried blood on them. The meal of the creature with its glistening small set of eyes hadnât been too long ago. Looked similar but wasnât one of his monsters. Actually looked more like one of Satanâs army. Not unlikely but probably something else altogether, just further proof this city never ceased to surprise.
No, not much of a talker for sure. If the message can be given in few words, why spout extra bullshit? Just get it over with and stop wasting peopleâs time-- that. Plus, his head was roaring with static, pain pounding from behind his eyes, and he really wanted to leave. A chill crawled up his back with slow steps, making him more and more tense as time passed.
If. He was starting to really loathe that word. If it was here, if it was from Draculâs world-- whatever. He just wanted to know whether it wanted his fucking guts or if it was long gone-- not much to ask for, but of course, it likely wasnât the case.
The thud, the crunch, all of it set Heine into motion, stance shifting to one defensive, balance, whirling to face the sound. Whites bared, stained with previous kills-- he could only imagine how the blood had previously dripped from its maw, of the ripped skin and flesh beneath it. The fog trick wasnât registered-- there was a threat, and it needed to die. But what could he do, be a fucking meat shield? Obviously the guy had some tricks, but Heine had none other than a tendency to not stay down. Not exactly helpful.
The dog was shouting in his head. Wanting a turn, wanted to see the creature so seemingly strong or such hunter prowess crushed and writhing in pain. Ha, like it could actually do anything like it was. Heine just hoped it would s h u t  u p.
âCanât say I got anything on me, but this place ainât shit for nothing.
It got any tricks I should look out for?â
He could improvise a weapon. Blunts were likely useless in terms of damage, but even it could ward off or buy time. Mixed with healing, and hell, it might work. Though, Heine could likely do nothing if it had some trick. Poison, acid, some sorta way of moving from one target to another in a second-- he didnât fucking know, and the only one who possibly did had better give fucking tips unless he wanted a bloodbath.
baddestdangerboy:
The teen is naturally pissed heâs being laughed at. Fists clenched at his sides, he grabs at Heineâs collar.Â
âI donât know what the fuck youâre talking about, I know it best, but you better shut your goddamn mouth! At least you survived, at least youâre alive. Beinâ dead ainât gonna just solve itâ what about the people left behind you dickcheese!â
The grab for his collar isnât unexpected really-- that was where most grabs when people wanted to be in your face happened. But a mini-Badou doing it? Ha, definitely a shocker. Someone so fervently trying to get him out of that mindset-- that was something he didnât expect at least.
âGoing to all this trouble for someone who isnât even making you money?
   Shocker.â
His dry commentary doesnât stop. But it sounds a lot less playful before-- his tone is lower, more hesitant. He dropped all sorts of pretending right then and there, focusing somewhere past the redhead holding onto his collar.
âWhen do you stop surviving and actually live though?â
When did that happen? Heine has survived all this time, oh sure. But was it living? Could anyone really call it being alive?
âIs it when you survive another day?
Is that really all there is to living?â
That...if it was, that was boring. If living was just surviving, then out goes all his motivation to live, not like there was any left.
