kagome?

Give me a character and I will answer:

Why I like them: I think Kagome was a well developed character, she’s strong, funny and cute. She resembles a lot normal schoolgirls (the 90’s ones), and it’s quite easy to feel empathy when she talks about Inuyasha or her fears and insecurities.

Why I don’t: One simple word describes what is annoying about her, and pretty much why so many people hate her: Anime. For me, the anime changed her character in many ways, and I blame it for all the hate she gets. It is true that even in the manga I get frustated at her, but that’s normal, and once I try to get on her shoes I see why she did some things. But for me, the anime turned her into an annoying girl, when she’s actually a sweetie pie.

Favorite episode (or scene): Hard to decide. I specially like the beginning of the anime/manga, for it seems Takahashi kind of ignored her during battles after Sango entered the group. That being said, I like the tsubaki arc, specially when she reflects that snake-youkai-thing and states that she’s not Kikyo, it shows how fierce Kagome can truly be.

Favorite season/movie (if applicable): I’m horrible at stating which episode belongs to each season. But as I said before, I like the beginning of the series/manga, so I’m going to say season one.

Favorite line: Gah, this is hard, maybe: ”What you’re saying to me is completely wrong. Inuyasha can never forget Kikyō and even though I can accept this rationally, I always feel pain and bitterness in my heart." I like it because it shows how mature and wise she has become.

Favorite outfit: Hmmmm… Her priestess outfit and that fancy, cute dress she makes with Inuyasha’s fire rat robe.

OTP: Inukag

Brotp: Sango x Kagome

Headcanon: Oh Gosh so many! Hmm… Oh! I have the headcanon that after a few months living in the feudal era Kagome started learning how to ride a horse, but even though she kinda learned it, she’s still afraid to do so.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t know, I have many ideas and opinions that are not popular, or known for that matter, but I don’t think they are not liked by the fandom.

A wish: I wish Rumiko had kept Kagome as the fighter she was in the beginning instead of leaving her aside on battles, as she kind of started doing after Sango entered the group. I also wished she had shown more how the battles affected her mind, I wanted to see how broken and damaged her mind was after all that Kagome went through.

An oh-please-dont-ever-happen: Hmmm…. Kagome dying during a childbirth.

5 words to best describe them: Pure, kind, forgiving, strong, resistant.

Kagome had never seen anyone being killed, her home was peaceful, and I'd go as far as to say she probably had never seen a dead body aside from pictures on her biology books. However, she's suddenly in the middle of a war, and there are people and animals dying right in front of her, killed in brutal, disgusting ways, not to mention pretty much everything wants to kill her. And she's exposed to that all of a sudden, without psychological preparation or anyone to help her, that is, aside from Inuyasha, who also wanted to kill her in the beginning.

So, it surprises me Takahashi never explored this side of Kagome, because I don't believe she would see everything she's seen without a breakdown. I think Kagome had many nightmares during her journey, especially in the beginning, and even after her marriage with Inuyasha I believe she still has nightmares, images that will always haunt her mind no matter how much time passes by.

She might not have lost her family as the others, but she lost her innocence and I believe she was psychologically damaged by Naraku and the war.

That's something I hardly ever see anyone talking about, but Kagome's expressions become darker and sadder by the end of the manga. In the Epilogue she doesn't give not even one of those large,bright smiles she so often displays in the begginning.

But that's completely understandable, after everything Kagome has seen during her journey I believe a part of that happiness could never come back.
