sick and tired of formatting my blog dump so here's a few headcanons for trafficked!reader and gaang/zuko while i take a break:
Aang realizes you feel extremely safe around him. He feels your eyes on his back whenever he uses airbending. You always look to him when you have a problem, or if you're confused—he very much holds your hand, guiding you through your transition back to normalcy.
ie. He's meditating one morning, and you show up. You clear your throat because Aang's eyes are closed, before awkwardly asking if you can join him. You sit beside him, crossing your legs under you, straightening your back and falling into a rhythm with his breathing. It's quiet between you for a long period of time before Aang hears you sniffling. Peeking out of the corner of his eye, he sees tears dripping from your chin. Your eyes stay closed, and your breathing remains even, while you dry your cheeks with the back of your hand. "I'm fine," you whisper, feeling his concern emanating. You breathe out deeply from your mouth. "It's never felt like this before." "Like what?" "Peaceful."
Katara loves being the shoulder you can lean on when your new life becomes too overwhelming. When you're in turmoil, blaming yourself, she will be there to listen—she keeps your head up when you're too tired to remember you're free.
ie. She invades your room one night, intruding on your quiet time alone. Katara lies to get through the door, telling you that she needs to discuss something important with you. The truth is, she just wanted to ask how you were feeling, something you weren't expecting to share when she arrived at your door. You dismiss her question tiredly, before asking if that's all she came for. "Sooner of later, you're going to have to leave this room," Katara eventually tells you, and you shake your head. "I know what you're scared of, and I can guarantee you—we look out for each other." "That's not it, Katara," you tell her, sighing. "I don't feel safe to be around. I'm a walking warning sign." Katara takes your hand when you can't look her in the eye. "You are not dangerous."
Sokka notices how smart you are when you finally start jumping into conversations. Sokka is over the moon talking to you for hours in a blink of an eye—he keeps your feet grounded when the world moves too fast around you.
ie. He tells a campfire story with several plot holes to you and the Gaang during an expedition. While he was prepared for everyone else to have their opinions, he wasn't expecting you to pile on. You vaguely comment on how young and naive Sokka's main character is, and Sokka excitedly responds to it with an explanation on why he creatively went that route—you can't change mistakes from the past, but you can look forward to the future. "That's...really insightful, Sokka," you tell him. "Did Aang teach you that?" Sokka's expression crinkles in frustration. "I can be insightful!" Toph laughs, lying on the floor, facing the wall. "Yeah, Sokka. You're as insightful as this view is scenic."
Toph becomes your partner in dry remarks. Every time she laughs in agreement, she knows your heart jumps in delight. She's not afraid to hold back in a spar, and you’re both walking away with burns and bruises—she clears doubt from your mind when you feel out of place.
Zuko constantly keeps his eyes on you, and when you’re not in the room, his mind finds its way back to you. It’s not the disgusting feeling like you’re used to but rather, as weeks go by, the light in your eyes gets brighter every time your eyes meet his—he reminds you that life is worth living, especially around people you love.
(Mayhaps I got lazy at the end and wanted to move on to other ideas for this concept hehe oh shit and i have stuff in my inbox ill be getting to) sorry work is just dogging on me 🫶🏼
