“ why are you talking like we’ll never see each other again? ” - Fred
❛ — because !!❜ mertle cried out, throwing her arms madly at her sides, face so red it almost made the hue of her hair seem dull. she was running out of words to tiptoe around the point she was actually getting at, suffocating herself with sugar coating pleasantries that made it more difficult for her tongue to fit comfortably in her mouth, the truth swelling at its tip. that very truth was daring to break through the barrier she had been attempting to build between herself and fred. the safety net she was attempting to hang for herself. she was scared of him, terrified, primarily because he enveloped her with a sense of comfort she hadn't experienced since she was a child.
he'd get exhausted by her eventually.
❛ we both know, deep down, you're too GOOD for me. you're too nice, too kind, too understanding, too upbeat, too positive.... you are EVERYTHING i'm not.❜ breathing was growing difficult, her lungs were pleading for more air as mertle starved them by bating her breath, words falling from her lips before she was able to stop them. ❛eventually i'm going to feel like a fucking ball and chain and i'm attempting to spare us both from that by ending this. right now... whatever this is. ❜
