The “Good Doctor”

In our series “I am...” ( @swiftwidget)

we introduce a character known as the Good Doctor. His character is based heavily on my headcanons for this doctor from Izuku’s childhood:

a rude man who has no qualms crushing the dreams of children 

who I think is the same “doctor” who helped AfO:

longfic problems:

Needing to break up the story into multiple documents because there’s just too much, and it slows down (especially with a slow internet connection)

creating multiple “Notes” documents to try to reduce the backlog of information on one document

forgetting where a certain set of notes were and checking through every document until it’s found

It occurs to me, if Toshi's more designed to run on all fours now, that would mean he's probably had some structural alteration in his wrists and the first knuckles of his hands, as the indication is he's running flat-palmed and apes generally walk on their knuckles when quadrupedal - our wrists aren't designed to go back farther than 90 degrees for extended or repetitive periods, and if his fingers don't bend back like toes now, he could easily break one.

Yup! We made a nod to some of the structural changes when Toshinori noticed his arms were longer. (Poor dear smacks his arm into walls and corners more often because of that) :p

It’s kind of tough because Toshinori still has to accept the changes, so he doesn’t necessarily notice what happens while he runs. But only time will tell.

He still has to go through quite the bit of physical therapy, and retrain his muscles, but ideally he would be able to switch back and forth between running positions with ease. (Though it’s easier to switch from bi-pedal to quadrupedal than the reverse, but that’s also gravity at play lol)

Looking at your observation of Overhaul's power and knowing you and Swiftwidget's work with fics like Canvas (wonderful work by the way!), I can't help but think about: "What if Overhaul got his hands on All Might? What would/could that guy do to him? Could he see All Might's withered form as something that desperately needs to be 'cured'?" Of course he'd probably just kill All Might but I seriously wonder thanks to fics like Canvas.

Ohoho~~ You really got my brain working here! (Sorryit took so long to answer this, had a lot of stuff come up the last week)

Overhaul has already made it clear that his ambitionis to take up All for One’s mantle as the true leader of the underground.

He’s searching for people with goals and ambitions,spreading his influence and eliminating those who just get in the way. Now asfor what he would do with All Might if he got his hands on him, oho it wouldnot be nice.

First, take a look at these two panels:

He’s disappointed in these third-rate villains. However, Overhaul said something veryimportant when he was with Shigaraki.

A few points he says he needs

money/investors

overhyped/powerful/influential allies

If he were to get a hold of All Might, the former Symbolof Peace, he would have quite theplaying card. Honestly, my first instinct said kill, but when I really sat downand thought about it, it would be more fitting if he auctioned All Might to thehighest bidder, whether good, bad, or neutral.

He wants power and money, and what better way toacquire both?

Tothose aligned with light: He would be someone to fear,someone with the power to snuff out the brightest light the world has everknown.

Tothose in between: They will see his power, and as itgrows, they will need to make a choice. To stay passive, and let his power growin the shadows. To join him and actively increase his power. Or, to alignthemselves with heroes and the police.

Tothose within society’s underworld: He will become arallying force. The one who finallyhas a firm grip on All Might – despite him being retired. Even in his weakenedform, people still fear him, but if he’s captured by Overhaul, that would bethe final nail in the coffin so-to-speak for All Might’s influence. Overhaulwould instantly become a leader. A possible replacement for the once mythicalfigure: All for One, the man who reducedAll Might to his current state. They will also have to face the choice.Align with him, stay independent, or join with the Villain Alliance. It’s abattle for domination, and those too weak will not survive unscathed.

BUTif no one takes up his offer to make a bid for him, then Overhaul would killAll Might in the most public way possible. Think distorted crucifixion like inthe panel above where the man is still recognized as All Might – Toshinori Yagi,but his limbs and body have been warped and melded with scrap metal and placedin a well-known, public place.

My first two choices would be in front of the gatesof U.A. or the leveled area of Kamino.

U.A. All Might’s alma mater, and a place for lightto grow and thrive.

-OR-

Kamino, the place of All Might’s weakening, an areaof chaos. It’s still healing and recovering from the damage of that titanicfight, and if All Might were to be killed there, the place would likely becursed for years and years to come. (In the sense that it would be verydifficult for light to take residence there)

So he would kill All Might as a display of his powerand as a call for allies.

“Thisis how society treats their sick and wounded. No one wished to claim him, andso he is left to die. I will curethis putrid society.”

Also! As a little bonus I think his need for money, besides the obvious money = power deal that often runs in these kinds ofstories, check this out:

The quirk nullifying bullets. The guy with the gun managed to hit Mr. Compress, but missed Shigaraki. A chemical that couldnullify quirks would be a great advantage in any situation. Battle. Negotiations. Theft. Etc. 

He literally hasthe power to take away other’s powers. MUCH like All for One – though Overhaul’smethod is a much more temporarychange (rather than stealing someone’squirk).

Honestly, this looks like a test run for thechemical or… to use his medical theme: “drug” rather than “chemical”

The guy with the gun said, “I missed a shot… but thefast acting effect was still enough, wasn’t it?”

Meaning they weren’t 100% confident in the the quirknullification power.

If we think about his possible “plans” Overhaul needsmoney for research, testing, production, and expansion. MUCH like a doctorresearching a cure would… A cure, a tool for manipulation, and a weapon.

THAT is what I think his plan is. To gatherresources, produce that drug, and use it to advance his position so that hecontrols the night like All for One before him.
