'Run, Baby, Run': Parents, Students Recall Chaos of Shooting
"It was the scariest thing ever," said the mother of one boy who was inside of Stoneman Douglas High School when shots were fired Wednesday afternoon. My take on BTS’ 방탄소년단 'RUN' MV, 화양연화 pt.²
So it starts with:
V drops to the water (like into a deep sleep where he sorts of drowns in his dream? not to mention the song starts with butterfly in that eerie tone, kinda llike falling into a trance. and in the prologue, we see V jumping from the pier)
Rapmon steps out of the shipping container home and uses his lollipop to sweeten his coffee.
Birds flying overhead. Like a symbol of freedom. Rapmon was living alone.
Rapmon walks toward a shipping container/train cab, throws his coffee on the tracks and opened it (later it is shown that there was nothing there except a card, ace of butterflies)
door opens. Jimin opens the door. It's like the past where they are having fun together, partying and stuff
V drops in the water. its like he was in a trance already and dreaming the scene of the party. They make fun of Jin, spraying him with paint.
scene changes to v and rapmon spray painting the roll up door of a store or establishment and looks like the cops got to them. (it later shows them being arrested for vandalism. V and rapmon run for their life, trying to escape the cops)
Jin was setting up a "house of cards" when V messes it up and Jin stares into the camera. V is shown as he is underwater.
Scene of them all running. it's like Utopia. A dreamlike place and they are happy. I remember their IG hashtags had "neverland" in them. We know that neverland is the place where children dont grow up
Jin stares into the camera, V stirs under the water. It's like him seeing Jin looking straight at him while he is in a trance underwater
Rapmon and V gets arrested, they don't care.
scene change to J-hope opening his eyes. Its like he was the one dreaming the scene where V and Rapmon were arrested. A dream within a dream.
Jimin was standing over Hobi's bed. It's like he woke Hobi up from a bad dream. Im guessing Jimin saw Hobi thrashing in his sleep coz of his dream. (Now this is where I suspect the butterfly effect. V dreams all these things and within his dream, the others dream of something too)
Okay, so the scene changes to them having a pillow fight. Hobi and Jimin lay on the feathered floor.
Then next is where we see Rapmon fishing out an ace of butterflies card from under the feathers on the floor. He sits outside the shipping container/train cab (looks like it) and somehow it makes me think that this container is the same one where they were partying in. Like a hideout or clubhouse of some sorts.
Suga breaking things. Throwing stuff around. He does look like he's experiencing something bad or under extreme stress or whatever. And he really looks like hes high on something, not just drunk. Jungkook looks on, sad. He hugs Suga and tries to stop Suga from wreaking havoc in the room (shipping container/train cab) , but Suga hits him and pushes him to the wall. Kookie retaliates and punches Suga. Min Swaga doesnt stop trashing stuff and pushes Kookie to the floor. Then he smashes a chair to the mirror.
V is shown underwater. But this time, his eyes are open. It's like he is aware of what's happenng now. He's out of the trance.
Mirror breaks. The house of cards that Jin built tumbles down. Jins face looked sullen. (This....is where my heart hurt OMG. Its like Jin saw that the bond he tried so hard to keep had broken apart. It's like an end to something. And i'm guessing this is the part where Jin sort of gave up and died? Like killed himself. The boys were going downhill and he couldn't stop them anymore. IDK. We can see that the boys were a little more than rowdy and reckless. And like they were doing whatever they wanted to do even if they were caught. Rebellious. Its like Jin pined away and got depressed seeing what his friends are going through.)
After Jin is shown holding his cup and looking sullen, we see the boys having fun again. Its the same room where Suga and Jungkook fought. Well, its the same room where they gathered since the start of the MV.
Anyway, camera zooms in. Jungkook is still on the floor and stares into the camera. Like he is realizing something. Camera zooms out. Jungkook looks at the mirror and is alone in the room. He was only dreaming. He was only imagining the fun times they had in the room.
Scene change. All are running. Happy times. Utopia again. Neverland. Pictures are taken.
Hobi is seen closing his eyes again. Like he's drifting into a trancelike sleep again. Its like he's in the hospital getting treatment for his narcolepsy. He falls on the bed, dreams. His dream is back in Neverland/Utopia. He lays in Jimin's lap. The other boys are also at peace there, laying down aside from Jin and Jimin who are sitting down.
Jimin looks around, standing up. It's like he is looking for something or someone. Rapmon, , Hobi, Kookie... they all get together again. Rapmon blows into a dandelion while V looks on. •dandelions are symbols o survival or healing. white dandelions symbolizes cleansing, spirit/soul, space and new beginnings. the stem of the dandelion represents resurgence/nature and life
Jimin looks down, camera shows Kookies back and Jin sitting on the ground.
Kookie stares into the distance while sitting on top of the pickup. It's like he was imagining that time when Jin was with him on that "neverland" place.
The pickup was actually blocking the road. They parked it across the two lanes and although in that first frame we see Kookie sitting on top, and the rest are inside the truck, the next we see is a scene were all of them are out, facing the other cars they blocked (except Jin, he is in the driver's seat).
They shout.
The 6 of them charge and messes up others' cars. Reckless youth without a care in the world. Then runs away. You can see that Jin didnt start the car until the boys were a bit far from the rest of the traffic. It's like he gave them a headstart before he drove away and picking them up and speeding off. Im actually feeling this scene as somewhat like a heist. where Jin's got the getaway car.
Jimin is walking towards his bathroom but sees the guys in there. Like your typical buddies showing up whenever you least expect them. They sort of push him in the tub and plays with him andit looks like they were drowning him. (We should take note that it was Jin who greeted Jimin when he opened the door and pulled him in.)
V is shown thrashing in the water again. It's like he's back in a trance. He may be thrashing because he saw Jimin sort of choking and drowning in the tub. And then suddenly it was him in the tub and V thrashed some more in the underwater scene.
Then it shows that V stopped. The boys were running in the tunnel/underpass.
Camera shows Jin looking around. It's like there's a train moving behind him. And V turns around, his eyes are open once more. I feel like he was looking at Jin eye to eye.
6 boys are walking. We can only see their backs.
Jungkook turns around.
Smiles eeriely at the camera like there's something he knows or whatever. IDK OMG
Then the screen closes like how someone closes their eyes.
The 6 people walking does not include Jin. It means Jin was the one who closed his eyes. It was Jin whom Kookie smiled to. It's like Kookie was assuring Jin it was okay to rest, that he had protected them well that day. The scene kinda felt like Jin was behind the wheel and looking at the retreating backs of the 6 boys. Reminds me of that I Need U part where Jungkook have been hit (implied) by a car. •This (Run) scene came first, seeing Jin in the car before Jin closed his eyes. In I Need U MV, Jungkook stared at the driver before the scene got cut and it was implied that he was hit by the car. It's like Jungkook's last memory in I Need U was of Jin in the driver's seat. The last time he saw his Jin hyung alive. (then the next scene would be Jin at the pier alone *see below)
V emerges from the water. Still pitch black, but he is gonna be in the process of waking up from the trance.
credits and BTS→ behind the scences. (THANK YOU BIGHIT FOR ALL)
Beach scene. All 7 of them
Polaroid pic in Jimin's hand. Only 6 of them there.
Where was Jin???
Rewind before the beach scene. Before the scene fades out after the credits....
*A figure of a guy was standing at the pier. Alone. It's like the guy was holding a camera....fades out...
Okay. Jin. What did you do?
Jimin lights the polaroid and throws the flaming photograph to the floor...reminds me of I Need U. Kinda like the reason why Jimin wanted to drown himself in the tub. Can't accept the loss of a loved one. He looked defeated, like the world came crumbling down. No more Jin hyung. :'(
It's like they were dreaming of the times they were together. A dream within a dream, and somehow wishes they could go back to the past, thus the flashbacks.
And i think this is the start to PPROLOGUE. Then I NEED U. The MVs are backwards. Like TIME TRAVEL. Butterfly effect is kinda like time travel too. Papillon. Inception. Dreams. OMG IDK ANYMORE.
↓ In the prologue I had the theory that all of them died except Jin. Well....I think im wrong. Jin died first. ↓ Prologue. Jin was sort of living in the moment (his last days) he was with his friends before he died(?) and he only realized he was alone at the end when he saw that photo of him and Suga that he was actually alone there. It's like realization hit him that he was a wandering soul. A butterfly. A beloved departed soul wandering on earth, waiting for a new beginning. The afterlife. ↓ And then yeah, I Need U. ↓ We all know how it ended in I Need U. It's like all of them achieved inner peace, or a sort of heaven. After battling with coping with the loss of a loved one, the memories they had together kind of rebonded them. For most of you, they're not necessarily dead. They just achieved peace at the end. But for me, it's saying they're dead. The bond was restored. 2015-29-4 "Forever" ↓ Even death cannot break them apart. No matter what sort of trials came their way, even on the verge of breaking apart, nothing could separate them from each other. Forgiveness and love for each others. The lyrics to the songs Run and I Need U come in. It's all connected.
OMG Im crying.
I may have forgotten something while I was tying this and there may have been grammatical or spelling errors I made, and for that, I am sorry. Mianhae, saranghae, yeongseohae. TT.TT
This is just my theory. You may have other theories. I think there is no wrong theory. It depends on how we interpreted it. It's the beauty of music. And the MV can depict different meanings based on how we understood it and based on how we relate to the music/lyrics/mv story.
Thanks for reading. I'm still crying.
