EVTEKA PROMPT: PEPERO DAY.
It’s ( was, I'm late. ) Pepero Day! A warm holiday in the midst of Korea’s cold weather. Pepero Day is similar to Valentine’s Day. The purpose of this day is to exchange Pepero snacks to show affection for friends and loved-ones.
So, if you had ten Pepero snacks, who would you give it to? Who would you like to show your affection towards? How would you give it to them and how do you think they’ll react?
This question is loaded and tests just how strong the string of love is between her and everyone in her life. Ten peperos for ten of her most important people, that’s tricky. ❛ I don’t know how bad this is but I think I'd give most of the snacks to my closest friends. My family is a bit... ❜ She never says much about her family but people usually get the hint after the annoyed sigh and crinkled lips. Yeah, she’s not a fan of most of them. ❛ I’d give one to my dad for sure, he deserves all ten actually but I can’t do that, right? Then I'd give one to my younger brother and my mom-- I mean aunt, not my mom...and that’s about it for family. As far as friends go of course it’d be Autumn, Hyojin, Reno, Daehyun and, even though she’s a pain, Kaori. Eight down, two to go...The last two can go to my Hedgehog, Toki, he deserves at least two for being so cute. ❜ Her eyes sparkle at the mention of her prickly companion: out of everyone she named, she’s probably most fond of him, her son. She has a strange love for that animal. ❛ I think I'd give it to them in the standard way like ‘hey, I love you, have some pepero’ except for kaori and Autumn. I’d put it between my lips for those two and make them eat it down just because I want them to suffer a little and because their reactions humor me. ❜
Most people use Pepero day to express more love towards this significant other. Have you ever played that Pepero game where two people start on each end and meet in the middle? If you had to play the game, who would you like to pick to be your partner?
❛ Yeah, hasn’t everyone? I haven’t had many significant others but I've played the game with most, if not all, of them. It’s just a fun thing. ❜ Even talking about exes in such a vague manner is awkward: it makes her shift, cockle her nose too. ❛ If I had to pick one person at this very moment it would be Autumn because she’s the first person that came to mind. She’s basically a robot so it would be fun to see her reaction. Actually, I did it to her one year and she turned redder than anyone could imagine. I thought she would die. ❜
According to a Korean dating agency, seven out of 10 people “do not think exchanging Peperos are necessary.” Do you think it’s necessary between friends or couples? Would you be hurt if you didn’t get any Pepero snacks?
❛ Necessary is such a strong word. A holiday isn’t necessary , it’s just fun to do. With that being said, no, of course I don’t think it’s necessary. ❜ The second question makes her laugh a bit, however, it’s not traditional laughter. It’s filled with an arrogance of some sort. ❛ I have not, and never will be, upset over someone not sharing a pepero with me. If I wanted one that bad I'd just buy a case. Who has time to get mad over candy? ❜
Lastly, what’s your favorite Pepero flavor?
❛ Ah yes, the million dollar question. I think most people prefer the original, however, I like the almond ones the most. I like nuts in general. ❜ She doesn’t realize how bad that statement can be taken until it’s already well past her lips so she just shrugs it off. Even in that way it does apply.
