open: m/f/nb plot: daisy jones & the six inspired

ryan was upset over the fact that his manager wouldn’t just let him record the song the way he had written, the way it was intended so. no, instead they had to bring them. it was clear that ryan was upset with the ballad, but everyone else in the studio seemed to be buzzing, especially once they started singing. it took him a minute, but before he knew it, the harmonies of their voices were blending perfectly on take 2. “that...” he exhaled sharply, hating to admit it, “wasn’t that bad.” it was the closest thing to a compliment he had given since the other person had joined into the studio. he was still skeptical, but if this was going to get him a #1 hit, then he’d go along with it.

ryan was suppose to arrive tomorrow, but he left the rest of his bandmates a day early to surprise sydney. things had been tense in their relationship — the long-distance and screaming fans being a huge factor of that, but he was finally back! it felt good to finally be in the same city as her. he didn’t even bother stopping by his place, grabbing a car straight to her once landing in the airport. he had only made a quick pit spot to pick up some flowers before he was knocking on her door. his foot tapping on the ground nervously, he anxiously awaited for her to open the door with a huge arrangement of her favorite flowers in hand.

“Babe? Babe!” he screamed over the loud music as he tried to find a quiet place to talk. Ryan had promised her that he would call after the award show to fill her in on all the details, but it was about to be 6 in the morning in Spain. He had gone out celebrating with the band after their big win that he hadn’t remembered his promise until many hours later. The clubs went into the morning that he hadn’t realized how late it had gotten as he slipped into the outside area where he could at least hear his thoughts to see the sun already up. “Can you hear me? Babe, we won best new band! Can you believe it?” He had no regard about what time it was back in the states, but after partying all night and into the wee hours of the morning, he hadn’t totally been conscious of what hour he was calling. He was just excited to hear her voice.
