It was warm in Paris— instead of being surrounded by semi-freezing air, soft warm breezes swept though the busy streets. Prior to his death, he’d never ventured outside the estate in towards the city, too preoccupied with preparations for the upcoming battle. Now, the stone walls felt like a cold cage and the knowing gazes of the inhabitants drove him crazy. Besides, he’d never traveled to the french city, not even during his vagabond days with different Barnett. Standing at a bar, sipping on an espresso too short for Dex’s tastes, he was content to watch as humans came and went, with an ease and reverence that only came from ignorance.
The next person who came by the open air cafe caused Dex to drop his cup. The barista was staring pretty hard at him, and if looks could kill— he didn’t want to think about that. He’d recognize the lycan’s profile anywhere, seared into his brain from years of debauchery. Trying to clean up as quickly as he could and make a clean exit, his luck had just about run out when she entered the shop. Then blue eyes met brown and he was fucked. Casually making his way towards the exit, he offered a meek, “Hey, nice to see you,” before being stopped in his tracks.
