dani savin wardrobe no. 34:  bluesprings au.

– - As with most Northerners, Danian Lovel’s wardrobe is typically more austere than those of their Southern neighbors. The colors are not bright, consisting largely of blacks, greys, dark and dulled blues, and browns. The colors of House Lovel are a dull, greyish-blue and the deep, pinkish-red hue of the weirwood tree, which is spiritual site for those like the Lovels that still follow the Old Gods. As the horned wolf is the emblem of their family, its visage may be represented on attire or belongings.   

On the top left is Danian’s formal wear. It is the single most ‘ornate’ ensemble that they possess. Black from head to toe with the exception of a few silver adornments. Tunic(?) stops just above the knee; sleeves adorned with lace pattern. Belt at the waist with several silver ornaments spaced along the length of it. Sword and scabbard affixed to belt, as well as the hunting knife. Cape also has a small patch of lace at its front where it is fastened by two silver, wolf’s head brooches -- this would not be quite as large as the one pictured above and would be of this style instead.  

Their casual and travel wear is simply as pictured above to the right, with the addition of a plain black traveling cloak on the road. And of course, their horse to accompany them.

dani savin wardrobe no. 33:  not at all familiar.

– - Aedan couldn’t combine the mention of Harry Potter and pet hunting and not inspire Dani to channel a little of their inner Hufflepuff (and maybe just a hint of Newt Scamander??). The scarf was essential, of course. The antler bone earrings-- a slightly beastly touch. They still haven’t gotten around to picking a new color for their hair, but for now they're going to crack on. It’s not everyday your hairstyle coordinates with your four-legged companion. Might as well live it while it lasts.

dani savin wardrobe no. 32:  erzebet’s valentine’s masquerade gala.

-- - This Valentine’s Day is especially conflicting for Dani. For the past few years, Valentine’s Day has been the anniversary of the day they and their husband crossed the tricky boundary between best friends and lovers. Ironically, they had also once mocked it as an overrated romantic holiday - a perfect excuse to binge on chocolate, alcohol, and horror movies. With Sam now across the Atlantic, although for his own well being, they were torn whether or not to stay in and resurrect that lazy tradition or actually attend the gala that the whole town was talking about. It was their own boredom, budding loneliness, and pestering canine that eventually drove them out of the house and into the night.

dani savin wardrobe no. 31:  yule market.

– - Exchanging their sweaters for a bit more formality, Dani has decided to dress sharp for their family’s festive event. A black shirt, speckled grey blue waistcoat (ignore the jacket), and black tailcoat, leather pants and boots make out the foundation of their outfit. They have accessorized with a flower crown, ice blue tie with plaid stag decal, silver antler earrings to match, and of course- their beloved daylight ring. Sam had a flower crown ready for them before they could even request one. It’s been accented with thistles, leaves, and a small feather or two and blends beautifully with the rest of their ensemble. 

Their choice to sport stag elements has nothing to do with a nod toward Christmas reindeer. Aside from being the emblematic animal of the Savin Clan, the stag is one of the seasonal animals of the Celtic zodiac whose symbolism bears significant weight after the turning of the year. December 22nd to January 20th is the time of the stag. The qualities associated with this animal are persistence, patience, righteousness, pride, nobility, diligence, and above all, integrity. As the days grow steadily longer and the calendar years comes to a close, new aspirations arise, and the stag embodies fulfilling that vision. They are the creatures most closely related to the Horned God of Celtic mythology, Cernunnos. Archaeologically, there isn’t much information on the Horned God, but of what is known both archaeologically and in conjunction with Neopaganism, he reflects the seasons of the year in an annual cycle of life, death and rebirth, and stands as a god of the forest, animals, wealth, life, fertility, and the underworld. 

During the Savin celebration of Yule, there won’t be any human or animal sacrifices to this principal deity, but Dani believes in honoring the tradition of offerings nonetheless, and as such will be offering up their music around the bonfire. There’s nothing like breaking out the fiddle for a bit of holiday flare. They’ve done it for every Yule Ball, so why should the market be any different? Naturally, they will not be the only musician performing during the night. Here are some examples of what music Dani might be playing but nothing specific is set, so feel free to imagine! dani savin wardrobe no. 30:  winter apparel. 

– - Here I’ve put together an abridged example of Dani’s winter wardrobe, including yet another seasonal change to their hair color. For university business, you’ll find them in that lovely waistcoat, black jeans, chelsea boots, and whatever tie or bowtie they may be feeling that day - all topped with their leather jacket and necessary glasses. It is also the season of Hufflepuff gear!! Particularly, the trademark scarf. For more casual wear, sweaters abound. Black jeans, leather pants, leggings, and combat boots remain a staple. There will also be plenty of flannels and graphic tees, all beneath the leather jacket as well.
