Attached to the letter is a small scrap of silk.

"Well, well... finally," the Hound grins, folding the letter and pulling the silk free, holding it up to its visor. The scent filled its nose, the guilt from the one who wore it making the magic in its bones tingle.

It marched out of the keep, the silk wrapped around its arm as it picked up speed, racing into the forest. Its blood sang as it began the hunt, the scent still strong in its nostrils.

How to describe this fic…?

Well, the short version is that it’s a collection of scenes from an alternate version of Satoko’s first loop back. Here, she eventually does enter a romantic relationship with Rika!  

However, while the story was first meant to be a silly oneshot, that initial seed of an idea started accumulating a bunch of other threads. My thoughts about how the club’s specific kind of teasing could accidentally become hurtful or uncomfortable. My interpretation of both Satoko and Rika as deeply flawed characters, and how their loops both have and haven’t affected them. My fascination with how SotsuGou blends shades of Lambda and Bern (and Beatrice and Battler) into Satoko and Rika.

Sure, I can (and have) written posts on those topics before. But the true test of a theory is to put it into practice, right?

…Heh. That’s a whole lot of grand words about what’s really just an excuse to write a bunch of character banter and some terrible, terrible puns. And double entendres.

Actually mostly double entendres...

ANYWAY, this will be a short, six eight ten chapter SatoRika fic. My goal is to post a new chapter every weekend every other weekend? Sorry, I’m a bit of a slow writer!

Closed starter for canarychirped: A New Customer

Duet was reading through a rather lovely translated and annotated copy of the Egyptian Book of the Dead (complete with full scans of several well-preserved copies of the lovely guide to the afterlife, no less) when they became aware of a strange new presence in their shop, the sealed god standing up and stepping out from behind register, their calm stance and fluid movements hiding just how perturbed they currently felt...

Whoever this new customer was, there was something...off about them.

They made sure that Chloe and Vivi were occupied in another part of the store before moving towards the new presence, which they found among the shelves near the back of the store, the bookkeeper calling out to the being from quite a few feet away, still somewhat apprehensive to approach them completely:

“Hello. Can I...help you find something?”
