A Terrible to Amazing Day (TMOTH)

Caine blinked a couple times with his blurry eyes, and saw the outline of his precious little girl. He yawned. "What is it my little Bumblebee?" As things got more focused he looked at the clock, it wasn't nine yet. "You know you are supposed to try to wait until nine for mommy and daddy on the weekends."

"I saw something cool! You have to see it daddy!" She grinned at him. Her hair looked almost like a fire, the red and orange with loose curls could potentially give off that impression.

"Show me the cool thing then, and let's let mommy sleep a little longer." Caine stretched, got out of bed, and then followed her.

"Look!" She pointed outside, and grinned. It looked like a ladybug of sorts and it was very close to the window. "I've never seen one get so close daddy! They're my favorite!"

"Well, why don't we draw them a couple friends! That sounds fun, right?"

"Yeah! Friends for my favorite!"

The sweet dream he was in was interrupted by reality, as he woke up he saw he hadn't turned off his alarm for the weekend. "Damn it." He pressed the button to make it stop and turned it off for tomorrow. His clothes were very basic in his quarters, no one but Moon and Ghost even knew how to get here. Moon was the one that would let him know if there were any emergencies during the night so she needed to know how to get here. Ghost just somehow started to remember how to get back there.

He liked this part of the office, it was very private. Maybe he'd work on more of the crochet project he had, he didn't think he was all that good at it, but it was relaxing. It was also an activity that at times required creativity. Caine saw an alert on the small display on his small bedroom desk and went over. It looked like someone was in the office. Despite it being accessible more easily now, most people didn't really come up here.

Caine tapped the button that allowed him to speak in the room the person was in. "Hello, I was not excepting anyone up here this morning, so I am not currently in the main office!"

"Its me, Ragatha, I just thought I would come up here and ask if you wanted to maybe hang out for awhile!" Ragatha looked for the camera, but it must have been well disguised so the room could look immaculate.

There was now a choice to be made, he could tell her how to get back here, or get dressed, which might take awhile, and meet her out there. Caine supposed he wouldn't mind too much either way, so he'd let Ragatha decide if she wanted to come back here or not. "I am back in my private quarters, so you could either meet me here, or wait for a bit, and I go out there when I am ready to go."

"Oh, you actually have a whole private area back there? I didn't know that, but I could go back there if you're sure you're okay with that."

"I am, I will give you the directions on how to get here. First, just keep going forward and go passed the desk and the chair. Okay, turn to the left side by the shelf. Just keep going until you see a wall ahead. Now, turn to the right of you, and touch the wall. Be patient, it'll take a few seconds."

She followed the directions exactly, and a few seconds after touching the wall, it became a door way. "I go through here, right?"

"Yes, I will be out in the hallway in just a moment."

The walls and such were a lot simpler looking, but still very nice. It felt more like a nice house would, rather than the extravagance of the office. "This place looks kind of nice, but also a bit simpler."

Caine arrived in the hallway, and it was going to be the first time Ragatha would see him not in a suit aside from when he was recovering from the fight with Ghost. It made him extremely nervous, but if she loved him, he figured it wouldn't matter that much. He was just in a plain white shirt with some simple black pants.

Ragatha looked over when she heard the footsteps. It was a bit odd to see him without a suit on, but it made sense why he wouldn't be wearing one back here. It was probably enough of a task to wear them all day. Yet, some sort of suit had always been his style, and she had never seen that change. Maybe it was something that was comforting since he was used to wearing them.

"Yes, I tried to make it nice without near as many details since most people will never see this place." Caine explained. "But, ta da, I guess, normal looking Caine!"

"Now, I think you and normal in the same sentence a lot of people would say is a stretch." Ragatha chuckled a little bit. "But, I know what you meant."

"Since you are back here, I do have something that I am trying to have put together for the pride celebration I am going to throw. I know most of you said you'd come, so it is especially important now to have it look right." Caine started to walk forward and Ragatha followed.

"Ohhh." Ragatha saw the jacket and its beautiful dark purple color. "It looks very nice, and it still suits you. I am sure people will really like it."

"I am rather tired of just wearing some type of standard suit all the time. I decided for the pride celebration, I would do something different. Its still pretty similar to what I usually go for, so it still works for me. I just am not sure how to add like something that would show some of my flags. I think buttons are kind of a cop out, though I am sure there are perfectly valid reasons why you would do them."

"Well, you always wear bowties, maybe you could find one that works for this?"

"Good idea!" He rushed off into one of the rooms and came back over. "I found one that would work, I'd just need to get it."

"What does it look like?" Ragatha asked.

"Its a butterfly with the genderqueer colors, I am sure mom and dad would love it."

"...That is actually really cool, and yes, they would."

"So, is it Ragatha approved, or is there anything else you'd add?"

"Hmm." She walked around it, doing an inspection. "You made sure it wasn't too long, right?"

"Yes, I did! I have only had something too long once a fairly long time ago, it was a very unpleasant experience."

"Of course you did." It felt with Caine sometimes he had to learn it the hard way.

"I don't know how some of the measurements work, and I didn't really have anyone who would help me figure it out. So, I did my best guess, and I really shouldn't have done that."

"Well, at least you figured that out. Everything looks good though."

"That's good. I don't think most circus members even know I am not at all cis. I know my style makes it harder for me to show that, but it still is a bit annoying when I have to constantly correct things."

"Yeah, some people are just like that though."

"Have you figured out what you are wearing to the pride celebration?"

"I hadn't yet, but this does help."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, aren't we going to partly go to it as a couple?"

"...I don't think either of us formally stated we were dating."

"Oh... well, would you like us to date?"

"Of course I would!" He grinned. "Glad we actually got that settled so I didn't have to drag Ming out of retirement."

"Yeah, I kinda feel bad for the poor guy a little bit. You brought him out a lot more than I think he would have liked."

"I gave him a good retirement, I think he is dating Disappearing Guy now. I actually made it so Disappearing Guy doesn't have to just suddenly disappear all the time as a thank you to Ming."

"That's actually very sweet! You never told me you did that!"

"Well, it was never brought up, so I just never said anything about it. I think Disappearing Guy and Ming just want to live a rather quiet life together so I just leave it be."

"I am glad, good for both of them." Ragatha grinned a bit. "This does actually help though. I wasn't really sure what I was going to wear before this point."

"Do you need any help figuring that out?"

"Maybe, but I am going to try to figure it out myself first to have it be a surprise."

"I am sure whatever it is, you'll look very beautiful." Caine said this very nervously because those words had never come out of his mouth before, and he was anxious about it.

"Aww, that's so sweet." Ragatha gave him what would essentially be a kiss on the cheek.

Caine felt hot and red all over, there was no blue screening or glitching thankfully, but he was blushing extremely hard. How did people manage this without the type of reactions he was having?

"Oh my goodness, are you okay?" She had no idea that Caine would react this way, but she had to admit, it was kind of cute.

"Y-yeah." Was all that Caine could manage. It took awhile before he could actually truly talk again. He was so glad this was in private. If it wasn't, he would be extremely embarrassed about how much of a reaction he was having to all this.

Ragatha gave him a moment to be less flustered.

"...Weren't we going to go out somewhere?" Caine finally having why she was here come back to the forefront of his mind.

"You're right, we completely forgot, didn't we?"

"Yeeup!"

"Well, I suppose if you still want to go out and hang out I can wait for you to get ready to go, and then we can head out!"

Caine went to his room and locked the door. He knew he'd probably have talk about this to Ragatha eventually, but for now, it was fine. "I hope you don't mind that I am trying out a bit of yellow today!"

Ragatha looked over. "I am guessing that isn't a color you wear as much?"

"You'd think since I love Bees and Bees are yellow I would wear yellow a lot more often, but I don't."

"Well, looks like we're good to go!" Ragatha headed out with Caine.

Caine was so happy today. What had started as a somewhat boring disappointing, and frankly depressing Saturday became an exciting and fun time where he finally knew for sure they were dating, and had his first experience with a kiss. Sure, it wasn't in the area people would cheer you on for, but he himself cherished it.

There was something soothing about stacking rocks. She had never thought to do it before, they were just rocks after all, there were so many. Yet the way Unsuur talked about them, they might as well be the most precious things in the world. Maybe they were. Maybe it was everyone else who had their perspective wrong.

Gwen nodded to his statement. "I'd like that." It was easy to get lost in the commissions, fulfilling them one after another with the faint feeling of waiting for something but unable to put her finger on what exactly. "Maybe I can patrol with you."
