Ok, I gotta ask. Why do you never defend yourself whenever someone insults you? I'm not quite seeing the point in just reblogging it.

I like to see the types of criticisms (or sometimes, but tagged the same, insults) made about this blog: usually they’re “but it doesn’t mean the same when it’s inverted” or “it’s cissexist to say that male or female are opposite” (that second one isn’t as popular as it used to be, though).

And for the former, fair enough. The same for people who think that this blog is misogynistic- some of the posts certainly are, and maybe they think that’s the only reason someone would run this blog.

Alternatively, I reblog (and tag) the assumptions made about the kind of person who runs this blog, again for my own interest.

I don’t argue with people because it would take a long time, and I doubt I’d change their mind: it’s unlikely that saying “I’m not [bigoted]” to someone on here has actually convinced them!

And, more importantly, most of this blog isn’t my words or opinions. That means that someone insulting this blog, or a post, is filling in the blanks as to the kind of person that I am. The more incorrect they are, the more I know their assumptions don’t hold water. It’s the same reason I don’t answer questions about my background.

So I find the kinds of things that people say (and the arguments they make) interesting, and sometimes I see that they make good points, but even those who outright insult this blog and the person they think is behind it don’t bother me so much. We’re both strangers on the Internet, I don’t wish them anything bad, and I trust the judgements of someone who knows me far more <:

I'm just wondering because I have a hard time navigating your blog (so many words ;v;) Do you ever take MRA's posts and switch their genders too?

Yes! As well as anti-feminist posts, which are inverted to either be anti-MRA or to be feminist (many MRAs on here are also anti-feminist, though not always).

Similarly, posts that were originally criticizing/insulting feminism and feminists may be inverted to do the same about MRAs, or anti-feminists. Or both. 

I tend to search by tags more than by blogs, any many of the posts there consist of simple questions or petitions or shared articles don’t tend to be inverted as much (whether those are feminist or MRA or anything else), as well as generic posts such as “any other [X group] on here I can follow?”. Which I can and do invert, provided that there aren’t a lot of specific examples/statistics that would take time to think of rough equivalents for.

Largely I seem to go for “opinionated” posts, whether they be hateful or making assumptions or bordering on the paranoid or outright bizarre. They tend to get people more likely to respond, and responses are a lot of what I’m interested in. That probably does influence the kind of stuff that I pick.

I do very much like the positive or happy ones, though, rather than anything that puts down other people. I suppose there’re only so many variations of “x is great!” that this blog can post though, before it gets stale: particularly with the whole assumption that I must have hated the original post to make a genderswap of it. (Most comments have been positive, though, I hasten to add).

This is a bit of a scattered response, I know, particularly as you asked for not as many words! But the bottom line is that it depends on what posts I can find and what I think might work. Usually, due to how people tag things, that ends up being swayed towards the content on this blog. Although I might make a special effort to shake that up and surprise people, just for fun.

Most importantly, submissions are always open! If you find a post/blog/tag that you think would be great for inversion, then please do let me know: you can reblog it and @ this blog in the comments, you can send a submission, or if you want to remain anonymous to me you can send the blog name and post number in an askbox message.Whether you invert it yourself or just provide the post for me to invert, both are great, thanks! But for the former, please do provide the post source. If I can’t find the post with a quick search, I won’t post it. While tumblr posts are the biggest preference, I do sometimes post articles or tweets, but usually if they’re linked to/screenshotted by somebody in the tags.

How do you find your posts? I know some people submit or tag you, but is that how you find most of them? Do you pick a tag and scroll through? Do you follow people who post invertable things? Or do mysterious pigeons fly through your window and give you post-its with handwritten urls?

All of those things happen!

When the queue gets low and the pigeon messengers don’t show up, I pick a tag or two at random and scroll through them until I am fed up of it.Sometimes I’ll get a submission and go to the original blog, then end up in their archive because the theme doesn’t display tags and I want to see what the post was tagged as, if anything. That can lead to seeing other (e.g. reblogged) posts, and using those as well, although I try to avoid picking lots and lots created by the same person.

It depends on how much time I have and how much energy I feel like spending on reading through people complain, really! Which is why submissions are always appreciated, as well as possibly leading to more material.

Misogynistic posts on tumblr are more difficult to find, as people don’t tend to tag them as such, or maybe even think of them as being misogyny. This is in contrast to #misandry, which is where the “lol men are shit because x” posts go, although over time there’s been more and more discussion of sexism, or complaining about it. And of course several posts on nearly every page from themodernmisandrist, which takes misogynistic posts from around the Internet and makes them misandristic instead.

Finding antifeminist posts to invert to be either feminist or anti-MRA is a bit easier than finding openly misogynistic ones, although it all gets a bit mixed up as people tend to tag their posts about feminism with every gender-equality-movement word they can think of! Which is, of course, to have people who use all those different tags see it, whether it be sincere or inflammatory.

All of which means… please do send the source URLs of invertable posts, and maybe inversions themselves, to me via your nearest urban pigeon. Particularly if you think you can balance out the kinds of posts on the blog: I try to be as varied as possible, but it really does depend on what I can find and how much time I want to spend reading the words of angry people, rather than carefully counting the posts I use.

Do you have a counter for how many people completely miss the point of your posts entirely? Extra points if they try to shame you for it.

I don’t, no: #fan mail is the closest collection I have, although it doesn’t date back too far. #assumption might count as well. Sometimes it can be hard to tell whether they’re angry about the blog concept, or just about a particular post and the kind of person they think made it.
