anonymous asked: “I myself am difficult to know. My trust is hard to earn and my walls are quite high. But you, dear girl, rival even myself in how difficult you are to become close to. I sincerely hope that both of us find people we can open up to.”
Her gut reaction was to say, “Hey, I’m not that stand-offish,” but she swallows those words before they bubble up into actual speech. She was that stand-offish, and she didn’t want an itemized list proving it. This wasn’t the first time someone had made similar claims about her, and she has made the mistake of assuming people don’t pay as much attention as she did before (There was a reason she was slow to find someone).
Still, the urge to deny these claims balls up somewhere along her sternum into an angry fist of denial. As nuanced as it may seem (Enough so that only she seemed able to differentiate), there was a difference between building walls and being prepared.
She blinked, a few times, slowly, as she considered her options. It made no sense to argue, and it made no sense to attack. She wondered what it said about her that those were the only things she thought to do. She knew she did much more than spitting and patting—she also wondered, explored, invented—yet none of those things came to mind.
She just felt annoyed, and she wanted to dig her claws—metaphorically or literally—into something over it. Displaying a unique sense of control, though, Katie settled her claws on her hip (Whirrrrrrr!), as she put on the most impassive face she could.
She didn’t realize just how well she was playing into the role of distrusting girl.
"...Why don’t you worry about deconstructing your own walls before playing sympathetic with me, huh? ”

anonymous asked: “dear mom,”
Dear Mom,
I’m sorry.
How are you doing?
I’m sorry.
I hope your* doing good.
I wish you were here.
I think about you everyday. I hope your* also thinking about me everyday. But I hope it doesn’t hurt to think about me as much as it hurts to think about dad* and Matt. I hope you know why I had to run away. It was,* for our family.
I’m getting closer to finding them everyday. Way closer than I ever did on Earth. I recently found video footage of Matt getting rescued by freedom fighters. So the sooner I find those freedom fighters* the sooner I can find Matt. Then he can help me find Dad. Then, as soon we defeat Zarkon and his empire* I can go home.
It might be a long time. But it will be worth it. Because then we can all be a family again.
You won’t ground me for running away* right? I feel like I should get a pass for rescuing our family and the rest of the universe. We can worry about that later* though.
I have been doing good. Being a paladin is cool. I think your* gonna be happy to know my lion makes me the “nature” guardian. I have imagined a lot of the jokes you would make about that. Like* “I knew you would grow to like plants.”
You probably have better puns.
Shiro has been taking care of me, and he reminds me a lot of you. He knows how to make me open up just like you. He also knows all of dad’s catchphrases, which I really appreciate. Its* like I still get to have a piece of home with me.
I can’t wait to come back to our home. I miss your mom hugs.
Missing you, your daughter Katie
