Shakti is in the right. I am on her side. And I have just finished reading Daughter of the Drow.
Love the characters. Like. I love Liriel (though not in the same way as the narrative - girl is messy and privileged and I'm here for it). I adore Shakti. She is such a fun character and should have a writer that loves her!
But boy oh boy is Shakti easy to root for. Liriel treats her really bad from the beginning (it is bullying more than pranks as Shakti is NOT having fun and I wouldn't be so mad about it if the narrative didn't treat it as harmless pranks an just brusking past it), it's no WONDER Shakti hates her so much. And I MEAN from the very beginning.
And why? Well, honestly, Shakti only acted in the accordance to their culture.
So. Understandable, Shakti. Carry on with your hatred. You deserve it.
