Running in late for @aspecardaweek!! This fills both Day 1 and 2 (Asexuality + Aromanticism)
This is Nellriel! She’s my aroace 17-year-old Ranger-in-training! She’s headstrong and good with a sword, but… also impressionable and materialistic ^^” but her heart’s in the right place!
She was initially created as a side character for another OC-centric fic, but ended up developing as her own (she’s even on LOTRO now!).

I think it’s because 1) she’s a single mom (goes against societal expectations) and#2) she’s a merchant who knows a lot of Dwarves (who don’t marry often) so she doesn’t feel the need to box Nellriel in like that.#other than the alienation I think another effect of it is that she has no one to talk to/loses a support system#during times when she grapples with the disturbing things she sees out in the world.#Nellriel is a heroic fantasy archetype who's super strong and confident#and I thought it would be interesting if despite that she still had this kind of struggle
