There was some uneasiness waiting for his daughter. Out of his three older children, he knew Layne would be the more sensible one about learning she has a younger brother. Still, the fact he had to confront her and let her know he was in a relationship during the time he was absent in her life was going to be difficult. Over the last two decades, the man made a multitude of bad decisions that ultimately led him to be estranged from his children, but in recents times he has been putting an effort to be engaging with them and trying to build a relationship, he only hoped this wouldn’t cause it all to crumble.
As the server came over to get his flavor choice, he took in a breath and smiled. “I am waiting for my daughter, may I please just have a sweet tea.” It wasn’t long when his drink arrived and he started sipping the refreshing drink when he noticed his daughter. When she came up to the table, he got out and stood up to hug her. “Hey Boo Bear, how are you feeling? Is pizza still okay or do you want to eat somewhere else? I think they offer salads here, but I don’t know how you are with your pregnancy cravings and what is good or bad for you right now.” Roman chuckled, remembering his wife pregnant with Layne and wanting mustard and pickles on everything, but hating pancakes which she loved but couldn’t gag down with their daughter inside her. "I appreciate you meeting with me."
