"Ewan, are you OK?" Ephraim can't say he knows the boy well, but he feels protective toward him all the same. "If anyone gives you trouble, or if you need help, come find me."
“Wowzers, If it isn’t his Majesty himself!” The mage grinned cheerfully as Ephraim approached. While he didn’t think they were particularly close close, they had been allies before and that was enough for Ewan to consider the king amongst his list of friends.
Like most of the other people he’s met around that time, Ephraim too was quick to offer his protection. “Hey, no need to worry about me. I can look after myself!” The boy said, proudly puffing his chest and putting both hands on his sides. The offer was kind, but Ewan was determined to prove his self sufficiency. He believed that it would make him more mature, yet ironically it only proved the childishness of his beliefs. “If anything I’ll be the one to protect you if something happens!” He chirped happily.
“If a mage from Caer Pelyn saves the king of Renais, that’ll guarantee the two’re gonna be friends for a long time!” He knew that his teacher already got along well with the princess, but what’s one more positive connection formed, right?
