And what if Eddie starts his new job at the new firehouse and gets a new partner and makes a new friend, and she's super friendly and they get along great and they work well together and of course nobody can replace Buck but this should be familiar, this should feel at least a little bit like it did back in LA, but... it just doesn't. It feels like something's missing. Or maybe it's reminding him that something's missing.
Hanging out with the team doesn't feel like hanging out with the 118, but the cameraderie is there, that part is familiar, that part feels like it always did. But the dynamic with his partner doesn't.
And maybe he thinks it's because she's a woman. Maybe someone even makes a comment about it. Maybe it's because there's more to it, because he's a guy and she's a girl and she's pretty and this is how the story goes. Right?
Except that it's not like that, and eventually for one reason or another it hits him that this is in fact what it's supposed to feel like, this is a normal working partnership. What he's used to from his time in LA with Buck is... not that.
