Patron Saints AU Concept?

So the idea is an au where both Sausage and Oli are like patrons or saints dedicated to the goddess Saint Pearl. But patronage is not so much chosen by the person but by the god and is given with a gift or so. Sausage and Oli lead very different lives though.

Oli made a grave mistake when he was younger, and in seeking sanctuary from those who sought to punish him, was granted patronage from the saint. While this saved him from execution, it did not save him from persecution. He was sent as a prisoner to a neighboring kingdom, where he curses the name of the saint he hoped would help him.

Sausage, on the other hand, was raised in fairly sized town known as Sanctuary. The town was mildly religious, loyal to their gods, and offered refuge to anyone who needs it. When he was young, Sausage was granted patronage from Pearl. He now serves her, carrying out her will in Sanctuary. But, after a time, Sanctuary begins to feel small. He just wants the chance to go out into the world and explore, if only for a little bit.

One day Saint Pearl asks Sausage to rescue someone for her. Ecstatic for adventure, Sausage begins his journey. Sausage and Oli start out clashing due to their differing opinions on the goddess. But in avoiding bounty hunters trying to return Oli to his captors and traversing the dangerous rode back to Sanctuary, the two become close friends.
