4 brave boys with flowers be upon ye!
i’m hoping to get a larger sketchbook so i can turn these into full sized pieces and water colour and stuff but who knows when that will happen (soon, probably)
yapping about flowers and more sketches under the cut!

monty’s flowers!
bluebell (kindness), cherry blossom (spiritual beauty), clematis (mental beauty), dogwood (durability), fennel (force/strength), fern (shelter/sincerety), freesia (friendship), hawthorn (hope), hydrangea (perseverance), lupin (imagination), plum blossom (promise)
edgar’s flowers!
azalea (fragile/take care), begonia (deep thoughts), bleeding heart (undying love), camellia (excellence), cedar (strength), chamomile (energy in adversity), crocus (cheerfulness/joy), daffodil (new beginnings), dahlia (dignity/elegance), eucalyptus (protection), forget-me-not (remembrance), hellebore (balance), rosemary (remembrance), thyme (bravery), zinnia (thoughts of absent friends)
kevin’s
bamboo (loyalty), bird of paradise (magnificence), clove (dignity), chives (usefulness), eucalyptus (protection), foxglove (protection), heather (protection), mimosa (sensitivity), peach blossom (generosity), snapdragon (graciousness/strength), snowdrop (hope)
further notes:
i assigned each of them a unique flower representing bravery because they’re the four brave boys. they also each have a flower representing protection and/or strength because they all play protector every once in a while. as for individual notes…
roland is very bright, sunny, and friendly, he’s also insanely positive and patient and i tried to reflect that in his flowers (with a touch of religious guilt because its oh so perfect)
monty i sort of focused on his gentleness, beauty, and persevering kindness in the face of all his trauma. he also has dogwood and lupin because the dog/wolf references are right there… and the bluebells are a slight nod to bluebells marigolds and hugh
edgar’s flowers are very much haunted by the memory of poe and his attempts to continue moving forward with egg. it only seems right that losing a part of you should completely destroy you and your identity moving forward to have that interwoven into the new person you are becoming. the flower i’d want to highlight is the hellebore, if you look up pictures they’re very gothic looking which fits the edgar allan poe vibe, and they represent balance. balance between edgar and poe, balance between academics (what edgar wants) and athletics (what poe wants)
kevin i accidentally gave three flowers meaning protection but i felt it fit because of the effort he goes to to stand up for his friends. i think his uselessness in a fight is a sore point because being able to protect his friends is a key value of his. he is quite a proud boy, which factors in to some of the meanings. also, i didn’t feel it fit too well meaning wise but foxglove is poisonous (shout out poison resistance), foxes are red (ginger bowlcut), and the flowers themselves have freckles. bonus shout out to the snowdrops because of snowdrop from divorces and teddybears
