The after quest conversation between Kaveh and Alaitham got me crying

Idk why so many fic writers assume Alhaitham would do the proposing when it came to it.

Sure I guess Kaveh is more feminine, and sure Alhaitham is more capable of asking for what he wants, but when it comes to proposing Alhaitham would probably not be the one...

Firstly, he's happy so long as they're sharing a space, and wouldn't risk it for a title change.

Secondly, he'd rather let Kaveh take his time, go at his own pace, he'd let him be the one to initiate big changes like that.

Third, Alhaitham could try and get the perfect ring, but it's a huge risk with how particular Kaveh is... their tastes and preferences are too different.

Fourth, Alhaitham's idea of romance is likely proposing intimately at home, and Kaveh would like that, but at the same time he might be bummed out about never getting to experiance a big glamorous moment on one knee with flowers and touching monologue, all that. Since Alhaitham cares less about the details so long as the proposal happens, it'd be easier to leave it up to Kaveh to make it memorable. That's the best course of action if one wants to make Kaveh happy...

Fifth, Alhaitham knows him well enough to tell Kaveh would want to be the one who does it. Kaveh has his pride and self esteem on the line, he's older he should be the one who buys the rings and takes Hayi out somewhere pretty then romances him before proposing.

Sixth, if Alhaitham truly ran out of patience, he'd just say so. "I've been thinking about marriage." (Que Kaveh spitting his coffee,) "Y- you have??" "...Yes. I wasn't sure if you have, as well." "...I mean, yeah, yes? Eventually..." (Long stare) "I'll leave it up to you, then." "-What? Oh, okay."

One of my favorite arguments in favor of solid ships is "do you imagine a world where they find a person they love more than each other?"

In the case of Kaveh and Alhaitham, this is pretty straightforward. I LOVE Kaveh, but this guy can canonically not stop ranting about Alhaitham. Other characters have commented on it, how Kaveh brings Alhaitham up in every other conversation... Kaveh drinks heavily too, makes bad financial calls and most crucially, feels like nobody in the entire world truly understands him. He has this tortured artistic soul thing going for him, and struggles to find anybody who he feels simply 'gets it'.

If Kaveh went on a date, how long would it take for him to bring up Alhaitham? And if he didn't and if it worked out, would he really be able to find another human being who's as patient with him? As willing to provide and carry him home from the tavern, someone who can and is willing to put in copious effort to overthrow Alhaitham for thr title of "knows Kaveh best?"

Not really.

On Alhaitham's end it's even more obvious, the suggestion he might open up to allow literally anyone else into his space is borderline ridiculous. Alhaitham tolerates most people, the fact he invited Kaveh to live with him and is spending all this mental and physical energy on them is telling enough. Do you imagine Alhaitham ever caring for someone more than he does for Kaveh? No. Absolutely not.

It takes some time to finally tear his eyes away from his creation and back to his tablet, where he was working on the final touches for his personality. He would be rational in all the ways Kaveh had been scorned for lacking. He would balance him out, challenge Kaveh, bring him to heights Kaveh would have never even known existed alone.

He would be beautiful, and he would be perfect.
