HEADCANON: Cupid Ring
Namely, Parker doesn’t have one.
When PJ was born a half-Cupid, it raised the question of if she’d become a Cupid and have charges like her father. The precedent set by half-Whitelighters leaned towards yes, but unlike Whitelighters, much of Cupids’ powers come through their rings. While their purpose is to set up couples, the rings are extremely powerful as a result, giving Cupids the abilities of time manipulation and suggestion among others. That kind of power can’t be given lightly, even to the daughter of a Charmed One.
It was a silent question for majority of the half-Cupids’ lives, until PJ became a teenager. She was responsible, a good witch, and even a good Cupid, though she didn’t have any magic aiding her. So they decided to give her a ring, because PJ could be trusted. Parker wasn’t PJ.
Teenage Parker was like teenage Phoebe: rebellious, a troublemaker, part of the wrong crowd. Unlike teenage Phoebe, Parker had magic and was extremely irresponsible with it. It didn’t help that Parker is extremely impulsive, stubborn, and hates asking for help. There was concern about Parker as a witch, let alone as a Cupid. (There’ll eventually be another headcanon post about this.)
It didn’t matter if Parker was still learning or if she was trying. It didn’t help that she would rather be sarcastic and mouth off to the Elders, though it’s debatable if it’d even have mattered one way or another. She was too much of a troublemaker, and her approach to magic was pure chaos. So they didn’t give her a ring.
Still working out that exact same conversation, but it was devastating to Parker. (Also another eventual post, but) she always compared herself to her sisters and her cousins, and this was proof that she didn’t measure up. If she wouldn’t even be a good enough Cupid, she decided that she’d be a damn good witch. Parker had already been more drawn to her witch side anyways, but she completely focused on that, shoving out anything about her Cupid side, which is yet another post.
Needless to say, it’s still a sore subject for her. She’ll make jokes about it and be sarcastic, but it’s the ever continuing proof to Parker that she isn’t good enough and can’t live up to what her family represents.
( In this headcanon, Peyton also eventually receives one. Also apologies if this conflicts with any PJ or Peyton interpretations! Since Parker’s family is so important to her, and also influential in my own interpretation of her, I have somewhat basic archetypes established to discuss her relationships with them, but obviously, actual roleplayers’ interpretations take precedent in those threads. )
