HI!! ask of the day except I gave up on counting

let’s see uhhh

how do you think Henry and missy’s relationship will develop as time goes on? Do you think they’ll become another Ray and Henry? Do you think Henry will right Rays wrongs? Or do you think smth else completely different will happen?

(I will get to your ask soon I just have too much to write and not enough time but please keep em coming :D)

I think henry and missy get close in a way that seems on the outside to be very very similar to how ray and henry were because it's the relationship henry kind of models theirs after (probably mostly subconsciously) because it's the only hero/sidekick relationship he knows

however I think that missy and henry are two very different people from henry and ray and so I think beyond an outside pov it would be pretty different

I think henry would be much more acknowledging of missy's feelings because he used to be the kid whose feelings were bulldozed over and I think missy would probably be more open with her struggles

I think henry would mostly just be himself and only really compare their relationship to his and ray's when he was uncertain about something

for example if he doesn't know how to handle being the superhero to missy's sidekick in one situation he'd think "what would ray do" and then decide if he was gonna do that or the opposite

I feel like over all their relationship would be healthier and more open than ray and hen's but still far from perfect

I think henry would focus so much of his energy on making sure missy didn't become miserable being a sidekick (like him) that he'd sideline himself, that accompanied by the fact that he never really talks about his issues, would probably lead to a problem where missy shares everything with him and feels like their really really close without realizing she doesn't really know what henry's going through

and one day hen would boil over or something and missy would get mad because she doesn't realize how badly his childhood fucked him up and then she'd be hurt when she realizes exactly how fucked up he is because he didn't open up to her

and then in my head after that argument if she hadn't been trying to get him into therapy already she would start trying to bully him into it, and if she had started already the fight might act as a catalyst for henry to agree to a trial run (maybe 3 sessions?)

edit I forgot to say before: also don't worry about answering my asks quickly take your time! I've got an abundance of free time so like I get not everyone can be chronically on tumblr like me

Let's say his family visits him eight times.

-> Four times out of eight, Donnie will not be able to recognize them and will treat them as intruders, driving them off. No progress is made on these days.

-> One time out of eight, Donnie will be able to recognize them enough to not view them as threats, but will not be able to recall any further details about them. He is confused and frustrated. He recognizes something is wrong. Days like these focus on providing comfort and support to Donnie.

-> One time out of the eight, Donnie will be able to recognize his family but struggles to comprehend his current situation or recall details surrounding it, though he recognizes something is wrong. He knows that Raph is here, and he remembers Raph, but he's not sure why he's visiting him at this lake rather than them being home and doesn't remember what happened up until now. He is confused and frustrated. His family will have to re-explain to him what's going on. Days like these focus on providing comfort and support to Donnie.

-> One time out of eight, Donnie will be able to recognize his family enough to not view them as threats, but will typically not be able to recall any further details about them. He's not able to realize that anything is wrong unless someone explains it to him, (which will likely lead to him growing confused and upset and has about a fifty-fifty chance of resulting in him chasing them away,) and will happily spend the day showing his lake off to his family, dancing with them, etc. Days like these focus on subtle information-gathering, side-projects to support their research, and just spending time with Donnie-- but no direct or significant progress is likely to be made, as Donnie is not aware of the goal and will not be able to work towards it.

-> One time out of eight, Donnie is able to both recognize his family and recall details about their current situation. He remembers the family member who is currently with them and understands that he is currently being affected by a curse that manipulates his memory and patterns of thinking. Days like these focus on working towards their goal of breaking the curse... (And also spending time with Donnie.)

Sigvar can maintain a perfect human form without any issue!

He actually thinks its more of a hassle to keep the extra pair because shirts don’t come with 2 pairs of sleeves and tearing holes to fit extra arms just ruins a good shirt!

I saw your post on Celtic folklore, invoking the dark Goddess the Morrigan, I was wondering what you meant by Llewelyn land? I know Llewelyn is a publishing company but it sounded like it was a bad thing to be in Llewelyn land?

Llewellyn is a publisher of occult, new age, and witchcraft books. They are one of the largest publishers of said books, and they’ve been around for decades. Like any established publisher in a niche market, they have earned a reputation over the years.

Before his death in 2015, the company’s former owner, Carl Weschchke, strongly believed all pagan/magic/new age material were worth sharing with the masses, regardless of quality or quantity. While an admiral philosophy in some respects (f’ex, minimizing gatekeeping), it also means a lot of garbage has been published by the company.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, witchcraft hit a serious boom period, and Llewellyn books were the most widely available beginner books for new witches and pagans. As such, a lot of questionable practices and beliefs, some of which are actually damaging, have become ubiquitous in the community. If you google criticisms of the company or authors published by them during that time period, you’ll probably find a lot of angry LiveJournal and Blogspot posts haranguing about it.

Problems with Llewellyn include, but aren’t limited to: inaccurate facts (medical facts, historical facts, modern craft/pagan practices facts, etc.), dangerous suggestions for spells, and authors who lie about their credentials. Additionally, Llewellyn used republish books with different titles and covers to try to fool readers into buying them.

To their credit, Llewellyn has started to clean up their image in recent years. While their books are still not great per se, they’re perfectly serviceable for their target audience. Furthermore, fact checking a pagan book is easier now thanks to the internet. My only major issue with recent Llewellyn books are their reliance on popular pagan bloggers, but that’s a topic for another time.

So, is being in Llewellyn land a bad thing? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If you’re a smart reader and don’t take everything you read at face value, probably not.

As someone who just hates Mr. Heartland the most out of major YGO characters besides a specific character I can't explain, could I potentially get an explanation on why you like him so much? I'm probably rly dumb about this and just biased bc he hurt Kaito

He seems to get a lot of hate within the fandom, which seems strange to me? But it also means as a villain, he’s doing it right.

This may have more to do with what I personally find appealing in tropes than speak anything as to his character, but I like the idea of a villain with a good public image. Mr. Heartland is the mayor of Heartland City, the mascot of the theme park, and apparently beloved. This isn’t (entirely) a facade of his personality either; he seems genuinely charismatic and outgoing.

The idea that behind that smile, beneath his charity and his public-friendly image, his core is rotten?

It’s sort of a corruption of innocence, of the notion that the devil can come from anywhere, can be anyone. Even this guy.

I understand that people don’t like him for the things he’s done, and that’s fine! That means he was an effective villain. I just hope that people can recognize him as such, as opposed to just generally disliking him without rhyme or reason. I want you to dislike Mr. Heartland for the right reasons!

Does Junpei think he has any good qualities? Or is it all bravado?

((Of course Junpei has good qualities AND bad qualities. I think he only puts up a bravado when he's meeting someone new and just testing the water, sort of like Usopp, in a way. Junpei did put up a bravado for Chidori, saying he was the leader of SEES and what not--that ended up in hot water with him.

I think he's scared to show off his good qualities since there are some people who have already just assumed that since Junpei does THIS that is who he is as a person--doesn't clean his room often means his lazy, for example. That really isn't the case most of the time.

But uhhh yeah, Junpei has good qualities but puts up a face to, in my opinion, save his face and wants real, true friends. Don't judge a book by a cover and all that.))
