I think it's important to remember that just because Troy doesn't gush and cry over Sid every moment, it doesn't mean he doesn't love and is proud of Sid. In fact, I believe this is one of things that helps Sid feel grounded and stay humble: I don't see Troy as someone who coddles or makes excuses for Sid. Also, Sid has stated many times that his inspiration and motivation is his father.

(I myself come from a family that doesn't say, "I love you," after every conversation, every phone call, every meet/greet with my family members, but that doesn't mean we don't love or care about each other.)
