Shiloh let out a low chuckle and giving a half smile towards Angela. Quieter company? Well, she was pretty quiet around everyone except for those three people she got close to over the years. She was a soldier that did her job and didn’t overly ask questions, kept her head low saying ‘yes sir, yes ma’am’ and moving forward. Unless she was training recruits with Conor she didn’t raise her voice or demand any form of attention. Her mind came back to the current conversation.
“Recon? Nice, always could use more women in that division. At least in my mind. Keeps the boys from getting overly cocky. Knowing someone can do their job better than themselves.”
Angela broke eye contact with her through this conversation. She was grateful for this, she wasn’t someone to keep eye contact. She wasn’t subservient or a wolf tucking her tail between her legs. Shiloh just didn’t find long amounts of eye contact comfortable. Honest people – like Shiloh, man that seemed like a farfetched idea to have over someone you just met.
“You look at me? The first thing you think is honesty? Angela honey you are such a great judge of character. Usually people think I am hiding something.”
“Yes,” she smiles, placing her chin on her palm. “I know what I see.”
And there it is. She’s starting to loosen up. Ada sees it in the way Shiloh’s lips quirk, how she can’t keep a small laugh from escaping. Soon enough, she’ll warm up to her. All Ada has to do is play the waiting game.
“Not that you don’t have your secrets. Everyone has something to hide, don’t they? Including you, including me.”
“I want to be friends, is what I mean.”
