mirae’s solo stage of “bloom” and “gashina” is themed around the shared flower imagery between the songs, and this is reflected in her stage outfit. to mirae, an awards show stage is meant to be more elaborate and conceptual, so there were admittedly some concessions made to prioritize look over danceability, but mirae did take care to make sure she could properly perform all parts of the stage in her chosen outfit. the addition of safety shorts underneathmakes the outfit function as more of a bodysuit than a mini-dress, and the roses tucked into her hair, stocking, and neckline are secured with pins and clips.

given the simple guidelines of selene’s color scheme being dark blue, presumably either to reflect their official colors or the title of their latest mini-album blue;s, mirae and her stylist settled on a look that could fit suitably into a group while still showing mirae’s individuality. her role as bvlgari’s brand ambassador is represented in the look via the fiorever earrings, but kept subtle. slip liners were added under the outfit due to the sheerness of the original, to keep the look within appropriate limitations. it’s easy enough to change out of and then back into before and after her solo stage.

exclusive x base magazine solo pictorial: flower power

the concept for mirae’s solo shoot is based on a modernized version of (stereo)typical american hippie style of the late 60s and early 70s. it’s a natural progression that comes when she’s briefed on the 90s concept of selene’s group shoot and finds her exclusive x base stage concept borrowing aesthetically from 80s american pop culture. she associates the style with her dad most of all, and the way he and his band used to dress up during one of their conceptual phases when she was young to emulate a free-spirited, retro look that was a few decades past by that point. she’s a fan of florals and bold patterns, so basing her solo pictorial around the look was a no-brainer once it popped into her head. and, well, it helps that she knows she can rock a good flared pant better than most.

exclusive x base stage: “hallucinate” (orig. dua lipa) by mirae

“i hallucinate when you call my name / got stars in my eyes / and they don't fade when you come my way.”

mirae’s stage video opens on an empty dance floor in a low-light club that was rented out for the purposes of filming. it starts simple, with the focus on her vocals and the piano, but by the time the first chorus kicks in, the area goes black for a moment before being lit up with neon lights of all kinds, with the help of some saint laurent f/w 2019. it’s showy, but not overly complex in execution so that mirae’s vocals aren’t overshadowed.

in the year 2092, captain jang is a former special forces squad officer who deserted her post to create her own pirate organization. she’s smart and insightful, but hot-tempered.

space sweepers was released in february 2021. as the first korean space sci-fi blockbuster, mirae was excited to be a part of it. it challenged her in the technical aspects of acting in ways she’d never had to face before, and she grew a lot through working on the project. it gave her more confidence in her abilities as an actress and more passion than ever for forging new frontiers for herself. captain jang has become a favorite role among her fans, too.
